Maximum DL Speed is only 44kb/s with cable modem

With the new upgrade to 4.18 PRO when I have download speed set at unlimited I still can only get around 45kb/s for my total download speed and it goes down to 3kb/s if I try to download 4-5 songs at a time. My download speed has always been around 250kb/s - 330kb/s maximum download. What the heck is wrong? I still get high speeds when I download anything else except the new LimeWire.

It could be your ISP...This is a quote from a Sticky within the forum...

6. Cox is known to filter p2p. Apparently they don't apply it to all people within any area, but more-so individuals. See: Problem with Cox Communications? ______ Hidden selective p2p upload blocking!. Sneaky monopolistic tactics Cox Cable bought the local CableAmerica.

New reports on Cox & petition: Cox Internet - Blocking Ports Petition (<- please sign this petition.) Broadband reports & also eMule forums

But it could be your new modem/router as many of them have Nat Firewalls within, so you will need to open up a port .....

So if you have a look underneath your modem/router you will see the make and model number for it, if you can post these details I will get the instructions for port forwarding for you....

Do you need my actual modem model # too? There is a number on the back.. and then there are two numbers on the side, one of them is the S/N number and the other is.. i'm not sure i'll check later it's downstairs.

Speed Test - dslreports.com
Tweaking for speed - dslreports.com

try those tools out and see what the results are...

it may be that your ISP is capping p2p traffic, it may be that your computer's TCP/IP values are wrong, or it may be that your ISP is for all effective purposes lying about what you are getting...

I got high speeds on all of those. My cable modem recently stopped working and I called Cox and they re-set my modem and such. I now have the fast speed I was used too. Around 400kb/s. Problem solved.
