Upload (!) problems Hi all, I am a very happy user of LimeWire and have been for years. I almost always find what I am looking for and downloading is generally fast (I'm on a 10Mb/s line). Naturally I want to share my ill-gotten 6000+ music and video files, but whenever I look at the Monitor-tab/window either no body's uploading, or else there are a couple two to three uploads at shitty speeds if not 'frozen' at 0 kB/s. This despite my having set up LW to share the folders that have the music and videos according to instructions. Why is that do you think? Please somebody advise - I feel as though I'm a leecher through no fault of my own :( |
Do you see a brick wall at bottom left of LW's main window? http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...ection-lwb.gif Some basic questions first: Check how many upload slots you have. Do you have LW set to share partial downloads? Do you share files immediately upon completion? Sometimes whilst actually looking at LW you may not see any uploads. There are other ways of knowing if uploads have happened. Example, check Library window, check your shared folder, the columns Hits means those files were found in searches, your uploads column means a/b .. a = successful uploads for that file, ... b = either incomplete/partial upload or broken upload attempt (which may or may not mean they finished the upload via another user sharing same file.) |
OK, thanks for the input LotR, your points are well taken. Yes, the connection registers as 'Turbo' so that's OK, my firewall is set to accept LW traffic. I'll act on your advice tomorrow (it's almost midnight here now ;)). |
