Default Limewire keeps freezing on me.

I've used Limewire for a while now, but just lately it has started freezing up on me. I have previous downloads that would start connecting, but if I search for something, they all freeze. I would try to download something, and it would just be stuck on "queued". I have a strong connection, yet it seems to detect a firewall. Is the firewall causing all of this? And if so, how can I begin to download files again?

I'm Thinking AOL Probably has something to do with it. They are Very Anti P2P. Hence the Firewall you're seeing, amongst other things. Just a Guess.
Use the Forum Search Function to find out what has been discussed here about AOL.

AOL America Online is reknown as a problem with p2p as Remoc suggested. Also, they offer services to people all over the country, they rent lines from local ISP's to achieve that. Question is also what policies to the local ISP's have toward p2p.

Here's a couple of things to try:

1. Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! (click on blue link). Too many incompletes can give LW major problems. They can also give a modem/router problems with too many attempted connections, thus UPnP might be failing as a result.

2. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) or if you are using VISTA, then see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...der-vista.html. Remember to make a note of all your settings before you delete the prefs folder. Next time you open LW, you will need to reset all your options again.

Alright I did some searching and found out about Frostwire. So I downloaded that, and the limewire is working alright again.

Excellent, good to hear. It may have been the Gnutella file was out of date.
