You will become a UP as the network requires, if more are needed in your area or overall then you may find you suddenly connect as UP. So check the connections window from time to time to check for this.

No need to play with the leaf/UP settings: those are handled automatically. Actually, you should get more results as a leaf rather than as an UP.

Still, you should have about 10 times more results from a what's new search, so for some reason, probably outside your control, search results are being dropped before getting back to you.

So, just be patient and every once in a while see if removing one or two of the connections (thus letting a new connection come in) helps with results. I'll ask around and see if there is a better way to get connected to better UP's. Sorry for not being able to give a better answer, but Merry Christmas anyway.

Just watching my dropped rate, it's averaging between 40 and 50% (the in rate, that is). Every so often I'll see something below a 20, but it's almost all 40-something.

Turned my firewall off and it didn't change anything.

The drop rate is interesting, I wonder whether your UPs are overloaded with other traffic and dropping query results? Sorry to hammer on about this, but could you try downloading http://limewire.org/debug/condi.jar , running it for an hour and emailing me the condi.log file?

Default re:New Pro version

Hello bjswalker, this is my first thread/reply so I hope I'm doing it right!
Anyways I too am having this problem since I updated to a newer version
of PRO and I received less than 1/4 of the hits I had prior to the update!
I suspect they are not telling us something, and I hope they can either fix the problem or return our money! I'm hoping I'm wrong but this happened right after my upgrading, so I can only assume the worst . . . Someone tell me I'm wrong!! Now prove it . . .

Hi Bazzbozz,

We're working on this problem but we need your help. Could you please run the condi.jar program linked in my previous comment and send me the logfile?

Thanks,
Michael

Default Where is the program?

I'm sorry maybe I'm not gettin it, but what program do you want me to run and why? Where is this program, and what will it do to my computer, how much space does it take up, and what does it do?
It appears the problem lies with the new program and not my computer specifically, why should I add another program to an already difficult problem? I don't mean to come off defensive but it seems alittle absurd to add to the problem rather take something away!

bazzbozz:

mrogers is one of the limewire developers who has been working on finding out what the problem is with searches. He is telling you how to get your LimeWire to record the information he needs to fix the code.

You don't need to help, but if you want to help fix the problem, Michael has offered you a way to help.

see LimeWire Forums for more info

Sorry for not explaining more fully. The program is located at http://limewire.org/debug/condi.jar - it's a stripped-down version of LimeWire with no GUI that just connects to the network, issues some searches for random dictionary words, and logs some information about each connection, like how long it stays connected to each ultrapeer, the number of search results received, and the number of incoming searches. The program uses less memory than LimeWire and a minimal amount of CPU and bandwidth. It runs for an hour in the background; while it's running you should be able to see an icon in the system tray that shows a lime with a question mark in front of it. When the program exits it will leave behind a file called condi.log - please email the file to mrogers at limewire dot com and I'll try to determine what's wrong with your connection. No personal or private information will be written to the log file - you can open it with a text editor before sending it if you're curious about what's being logged.

Cheers,
Michael

Default Condi.jar program???

I d/l the link/program/files you suggested and unzipped whatever files were there, but I don't see a condi.jar file in the folder where they were saved to, could there be another name or are they hidden in one of the folders?
