Switching from a Dial-up to LAN connection problems

I recently switched from a dial-up connection to a LAN connection. I went to use LimeWire after making the change but it wouldn't download anything. I tried completely erasing it off my computer with no avail. I've tried everything on LimeWire's Technical Suppourt with no succes. When I search I get results but I start downloading them and they either download super-slow (1kbps) or not at all. Please help Me

Do you see a Brick Wall icon at bottom left of LW's screen?

If yes, it means you are suffering firewall issues. Most likely due to your new router/modem you are connected to on the LAN. Else 'possibly' due to a software firewall on the main machine depending on how the LAN is set up, though less likely the reason.

I had similar issue when I first changed from dial up to broadband, and my first router needed to be port forwarded.

Some more details about both your machine & the LAN set up will help greatly: System details - help us to help you (click on blue link) :)

In the bottom of my LW there is a brickwall icon. My computer is a Microsoft Windows XP Media Edition 2005. I have Windows XP Home Edition. I will get you more detailed specifications at a later date due to time issues. My new LAN connection is from Xplornet. It is Intel(R) PRO/NE Network Connection. Could you please let me know exactly what details you need if it isn't too much trouble for you. If it is don't worry I will just send them all. Thank you for your help so far.

Yes please, as many details as possible. Modem/router brand & specific model. ISP provider, java version, LW version, where connecting from, etc. :)

Lord of the Rings, I thank you extremely for the help you gave me. It was a firewall problem but one of smart computer friends came over and fixed it for me. Thanks again for all the help.
