Regarding Viruses and spyware

What should we be doing to continue to use Limewire anymore? What edition of Limewire is the safest and what anti-virus,malware and spyware programs should we be running?

Should we be making this public then?

????????????????

you think you're posting in the private area of this forum, or what...sheesh..trust me, you don't have access...

afaik all recent (within the last 3 years) versions of LW are 'safe', no malware....there was an incident ages ago, but that has passed....

everyone should have a firewall, AV running, and be using PeerGuardian 2...use of Adaware and spybot search and destroy are nice additions to the basic minimum I just listed....

as far as to what flavors of firewall an av, well we're not paid advertisers here...do some research online and I'm sure you will find the top 3 easily...

What an arrogant *** you are! No that's not the kind of public I am talking about. I work for Altavista.com. As far as I'm concerned NO versions of Limewire of now are safe. I've contacted Gnutella Forums administation 2 weeks ago before posting this simple question here. No one has given me a decent answer other than the normal smoke screen. They'll have 30 days total time before this goes public. But go ahead and add more to the fire if you'd like.

LimeWire itself is safe enough, unfortunately it's the people using it who are causing others to get viruses because of their unsafe computer security. For example some users have no firewall protection -- this is like leaving the door to your house open for anyone to enter -- secondly they are not using a good antivirus program with the latest updates. This is just 2 of the most basic needs before you connect to the internet -- like peerless says there are alot of good free software available you just have to look around for it -- so please don't blame limewire -- the people who use it need to be educated in computer security.
