Default Odd search results

Hey, limewire stopped working for me quite a while ago. (Refused to connect)

I now got it working a a full uninstall, but the problem is, whatever i am searching for i only get one result, and that result is always the same.

Its always a group of 23 peers, with "whatever i searched"+"random porn label" IE. "*********unshaved doll sucking lollipop & fingering"
Its an mpg file that is 449.3kb.

Not getting any other results whatsoever.

Default Unwanted Files

No they are not viruses. There are a few files that you get when you do a search. Look out for a mpg which is 3,462 KB. And of course that old famous 449.3 KB which is usually a mpg also. Have you seen the 38.6 KB as an avi? These files are audio files and if you download them they are advertisments for porn. I wish LimeWire would created a new release which would allow us to cut certain file sizes. This will do the trick, but until they do this I think we are stuck with this crap. I've tried Block Host on these files and cut down a lot but never quite got rid of them all. But I had about a zillion Block Hosts. And I'm not sure if Blocking a Host is a good idea because they keep changing their addresses. But you can try this. I have gotten the 449.3K files down from 40 to 6, WOW!!!

Yes learning to recognise spam helps. Here's a help in hand in seeing typical spam sizes to beware of: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/335326-post2.html

Basically, ignore files less than 2,000 KB (2 MB) since no practical file will be smaller than 1,000 KB unless it's a simple document or image.

This might be some help too: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/search...tml#post335323
