Hi Birdy and Lord,

Thanks to you guys, I am now getting around 175kbs! Thank you soooo soooo much. Your info was concise, without jargon and easily followed. Fabulous!

Great to hear. So the port range was the problem? If so, that means we can pass same advice across to other BT users.

Hi,

I think so, however, I had changed the port previously and had no joy. I am wondering if setting a static ip had an impact also? As since seting the static ip and seting the port range to 65000, I have had much faster speed.
Hope that helps.

Love

lol it happens. Yes port range between 49152 - 65535 are not officially used & usually the last ones that any ISP will choose to place any preventions upon if they are using any port restriction stategies. Thank you for posting back.

The sad thing is most ISPs in UK now have some kind of anti-p2p sharing approach. And many ISP's are under the same owners (retaining their original name however) thus use same or similar attitudes & approaches. Corporate take overs & owning as much of the ISP ranges as possible seems to be their aim. O.o Tiscali is a good example of such, now taking over much of UK's ISPs, but most of their users are unaware who their real owner is.

Oh No! Just restarted my computer and I have the brick wall back again - although I have checked that my firewalls are off. Everything has gone back to 0kbs except uploads which are going at 24kbs.
What's gone wrong?

Just noticed that the 'listen on port' had changed to another number althought the manual port forward number hadn't. That has solved the problem.

Sorry to have bothered you again.

That's odd. UPnP setting will have the listening port change. However when set to Port Forward in LW's advanced settings, the listening port should remain the same each time you open LW.

Yes - I thought it was odd too. I will let you know what happens when I restart my computer again. At least I will know now what is wrong - even if it is strange! LOL

Hi,

Restarted my computer and LimeWire still had the correct listening port this time. My speeds have dropped drastically again - around 8kbs - but I am guessing that is because it is peak time now in the UK.
