junk and more junk Why can't or should I say won't Limewire block IP address that spread the viruses? It seems that more and more I can't find any movies with out 1000's of junk files being in the listing. You know there out there but seems you cna block these Ip address at your source and solve all our problems. Then you post a note on line saying check you files besure they really wrok and delete those that you know are junk and viruses. Also so many are uploaded and you have to buy some unlocking file to see the movie. You want $ but seems you have done the same as the Big 3 and spent the $ on Pro which is no better than the free service. |

For a start, many of the spammers use dynamic ip addresses which change multiple times in a week, perhaps even multiple times in a day due to their own tools of achieving this. There 'are' ip blocking lists. A few can be found here: phex - Revision 4345: /phex/trunk/src/main/resources/phex/resources/hostiles Another custom made one can be found here: Hostiles List. The new LW 5.0 will have built-in hostile list once it is released. Phex already uses one which is an adaption between those in the first link. So then we can do nothing to rid cyberspace of junk? Ok I understand but here is an an example Deadwood I have treid to find this series for more than a month and sometimes I get a few hits 10-13 most the time its the same junk files posting over and over. But let me do say thanks for responding to me and keeping LW up and running. Perhaps not enough Thanks goes out to you all and way to many complaints. |

This was a post written several years ago but principle still applies, and applies to spammers, believe it or not; Quality of Content on the Network (click on link). But the gnutella community is trying to fight against spammers in one way or another. Recognising their style & their file sizes helps greatly. Virus thread: Typical virus spam file sizes - Make a note of them (click on blue link to see) For videos, Bitzi look up helps greatly. Bitzi needs much more user input. How to use Bitzi Web Lookup |
