why can't i get any result on my search??please help meeeeeeee!!

hello, i've been using limewire for many years but yesterday it started giving me some problems. whilst before i would tap in a keyword and it would find hundreds of results, now it gives me 2 results: for example, i tap in "rock dj" and it says "rock dj" and "rock dj hot remix" (for every keyword i tap in!), and that's it, but they're obviously fake (since it reports zero results!!)...i tried by removing all the lw hosts inferior than 4.18 but nothing, now they're all 4.18 but still zero connections... i tell u guys that i total suck in computer settings so please be clear and simple :-D

Well, just some initial help before someone much, much smarter than me comes along.

There are probably a dozen threads on search problems on the first couple pages of the forum here - and most of them have some really excellent advice on where to start doing things to try to get your searches working.

You're not the only one having problems though. I only just started getting my searches back, and I think it was something as simple as going back and re-downloading Java 6 version 11, I think it was.

But there's lots better advice already posted here if you want to get a start. BTW, you're going to get asked about what your OS is, firewall, etc. I think there's a link at the top of the forum that lists all the stuff you should post for the best help.

Hi bia88,

Several people have reported similar problems in the last few weeks. I've developed a diagnostic tool to help us track down the problem - you can download it here: http://limewire.org/debug/condi.jar

Please double-click the file to run it; it should run in the background for about an hour and exit automatically, leaving behind a condi.log file. Please email that file to my username at limewire dot com to help us diagnose the problem. No personal or private information will be written to the log file.

Thanks,
Michael

sorry, i told you guys i wasn't that expert on the matter!!
i have a mac os x 10.5.6, limewire 4.18.8...all the threads i've read are about windows, nothing really helpful regarding mac...
ps thank u very much mrogers for the help, but unfortunately the diagnostic tool u've sended me doesn't work, it says it's impossible to launch it :-(

Ah, that's a shame - thanks for the feedback. Can you run it by opening a terminal window and typing java -jar condi.jar ?

bia88 January 6th, 2009 08:19 AM

dunno what that means :-D anyway, i will try with limewire alpha version and let u know...

mrogers January 6th, 2009 08:21 AM

Thanks bia - the more information we have about this issue the better. :-)

bia88 January 6th, 2009 08:34 AM

nothing, it doesnt connect, but it says it's a common problem for mac os x....why limewire stopped working??

mrogers January 6th, 2009 08:55 AM

Sorry about that, the OSX connection issue should be fixed before 5.0 is released, it's a separate problem to the search issue. Some other people have reported that installing the alpha and then switching back to 4.18 solved the search problem for them - could you please let me know whether it solves the problem for you too?

nothing, same old problem....
