New toNEW LW~do not see Programs file anymore?

I'm lookin for a certain program, when i search for it, it comes up mp3 extesion, and of coure when I dl it, it tries to come up on media player. Can we not dl programs any more, btw, using vista.. Husband and started online college and need ***** ASAP

help please..
