Only as many as both your LW & your bandwidth can handle. I'm sure you are seeing lot's of busy host or queued messages right? That's because your LW is struggling to handle more than a certain number of downloads at one time.

No, the trouble is that LimeWire 5.0 sucks.
Recommend this version, much more reliable http://www.limewire.com/download/oldversion.php

Some people hate it, others love it. Same as any new version that comes along.

Personally, I don't like it much. But it's here to stay. And heaps of people are going to be installing it & coming here asking for help with using it. And so we're going to help them to use it if that's what they want to do
Actually, I don't believe that there are any more connection or search problems associated with LW 5 than there were/are with 4.18.8. Search the forum & you'll see that loads of people had/have both issues with 4.18.8.

Reverting to an older version is probably going to be the answer for quite a few people (just as it is whenever a new version is released).
If you're going to keep advising people to revert to an older version, it might be wise to check whether they have current Pro benefits or have a legitimate copy of Pro... and then offer advice about how those people can download a 4.18.8 Pro, as well as offering a link to a basic version.

Same principle applies to all versions. And I've used them since version 2.

Please if you desire to respond in such a fashion TheFakeSheikh, post with a constructive suggestion rather than a preset self-biast opinion. Own experiences are good to express, however, since systems vary so much, the experience on one system can be completely different to the next; even on the same LAN.

Sorry, it may not be a constructive suggestion, but it may be the easiest way to fix the promlem(s), there are no more problems with 4.18 then there are with 5.0, but i will keep it to myself next time.

You don't have to keep it to yourself if you have a suggestion for people. The forum is for helping. But think of all the people who might read your posts... basic & Pro users alike.

Just remember that there are so many reasons that people may have connection/searching problems... bad gnutella.net file, corrupted firewall rules, ISP changes, modem/router issues, changes in location for connecting, corrupted preferences, wrong Java version & the list goes on.

Just for example... heaps of the people who come here complaining about getting no search results - turns out that they aren't even connected to the network (so of course they can't search)

It's not always as simple as rolling back to an earlier version. But sometimes that's the answer
