These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures. 3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum. 4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community. |

partial downloads not being picked up on further 'searches' I apologize in advance if this problem has been tackled before, but I couldn't find a link through 'search' running Vista 32, LW 4.18.8 (reinstalled after trying LW 5 --ugh, but that's for another thread.. all incomplete D/L are listed in RED but show the appropriate size that has been downloaded when clicking on to 'resume', all partial D/L's are listed at 0% which I know is incorrect because I can get them to play and when doing a catagory search for the incomplete file and that incomplete file is listed, it doesn't download automatically unless I physically cancel the old one and click on the same newly posted listing hope this made sense it's probably a simple fix but it's bugging the snot out of me any help/suggestions are appreciated |

another thing that is happening after tweaking the system---files that I D/L today (partial) are in black BUT after logging off (the proper way ) and when I start LW hours later, those same files from earlier in the day are now in RED with 0% saved upon using the 'resume' function--what am I missing here---it's gotta be something simply stupid thanks |

If you turn Partial file sharing off at any stage, LW's preferences will lose track of those files, thus even if you turn it back on 10 mins later they will eventually become red. I presume your partial file sharing is turned on right? Other than that I'm not sure why that would happen. But why are you using the Resume function if the incomplete files are already in the download window ... or were they missing from the download window? It'd be my guess incomplete files that did not show in download window & were resumed from incomplete folder would not be capable of partial file sharing (might be wrong.) The process might have temporarily tricked LW. What sort of changes did you make? |

just to clarify--partial sharing is on My main question is still why aren't the incomplete files being recoginzed in a catagory search where the same exact file is there. If I delete the incomplete file from the main d/l window and then click of the same file in the search window I can d/l the file and it picks up immediately with whatever % has already been saved previously |

Unless your LW preferences are partially corrupted, it suggests the file you saw in search results does not have 100% identical download hash even though it's basically the same file. However in your scenario, it does sound like something is amiss. If your incomplete files keep disappearing from the download window by themselves & you are continually forced to resume them from the library window then something is definitely wrong. In that scenario then yes LW has not initially detected the incomplete proper download hash (until you have resumed the file from Library incomplete folder or pressed download from the search results) & thus cannot compare such to search results. Hope that makes sense. |

I kinda figured there is a corruption issue here. Had a similar situation a few years ago with compatibility/corruption of D/L's with Zone Alarm (using McAfee now--it's free for me for a little while longer) and at that time I found on the ZA site a way to fix the problem and that was by going into the .LIB folder and deleting certain files. Is this an option for my situation or is it more logical to do a complete uninstall/reinstall to get back to square 1 again? I know I'm going to lose all the incomplete downloads (right? since they are corrupted in the hash value only not the content, and what's the sense of keeping them if...). Right now even any new D/L that is incomplete during a session is initially listed in black but if I shut down LW and restart hours later, the same file is now listed in red thanks again |

Do you have Extended Tooltips turned on? Right-click the heading bar of any window such as downloads window & choose that option. Then you can hover your cursor over a file in the download window to see if any data has been lost due to corruption. I get the impression your LW is not shutting down properly. Perhaps not closing fully before you shutdown the computer. Do you have LW set to shutdown immediately, that's probably the best option. It might also be a corruption in your preferences folder. If you wish to make a note of all your settings, then do this: delete your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) or if using vista see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...der-vista.html but LW must be closed at that time. |
