Music D/Ls stop and then say DISK PROBLEM

Hi,my problem is that when I D/L a music file the KBS start out high then counts down fast till it hits 0 and stops loading. Then later(when I'm not around to see) the file either loads to 100% or moved down to the downloaded files and shows the file as a "Disk Problem". When I click on one of them, that says Disk Problem, all I get is a short preview. This happens 99% of the time with only a few that make it through as completed songs.

I live in the USA and have Windows XP with a Norton 360 firewall and antivirus, my windows firewall is turned off. My modem is a Motorola with a Linksys WRT54G2 V1 router that sends a signal upstairs to another router that feeds 2 more PCs. My ISP is Charter cable connecting from my house. My LW version is 4.18.8 with Java 1.6.0_11. I have 768 Ram with 7 GBs left on my E: Drive with the UPnP enabled. Some time ago I read that someone said to delete LW preference files to help D/L. Where is this? Thank you for taking the time to read this and thanks for any help.

I would also recommend defragmenting your hard disk drives. ;) Sounds like your E drive is mighty 'full' & keep in mind downloading using LW will fragment drives very quickly. ;)

For XP the LW preferences folder is found, well check point #3 here: Point #3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)

Hi and thanks for getting back to me so fast! When I went to the Application Data folder and opened it I found LimeWire, not Limewire. When I opened LimeWire all I found under "limewire" was limewire.props file. Was I supposed to delete the entire LimeWire file under Apps data?

Yes, the entire LW folder. ;)

Hi, I lost all my music files after deleting LimeWire preference folder. The files I did have are now red under the saved audio file and can not play them. When I tried to search for a song all I got were a few searches.

That just means they are not shared. Select whichever folder (but not the incomplete folder), right-click & select Share folder or file.

Hi, When I tried to defrag my PC wouldn't do it. So I cleaned the disk first and tried again and still no luck. Then I went to my Norton anti virus and tried to defreg it told my my C:, E:, and F: drives were not available. What is happening here? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Fatherwayne

I hope LW was turned off at the time. Other than that no I don't know. Someone else might have an idea.

Yes it was turned off when I deleted the preference files.

Decide which firewall you wish to use, either windows or norton. These two are known to clash with each other.

If the problem is not your disk then it might be something affecting the files as they are entering.

But it sounds like something is affecting the drives. Odd that you cannot defragment them & it says the drives are busy. Sounds suspicious to me.
