Resuming Downloads after a crash

Prog flat out crashed. On restart all incomplete dls missing. Found the parts in the incomplete folder. i cant figure how to restart them. And the searches cant find it anymore, but even if source dropped offline i should be able to reload the incomplete dl somehow. Help please...

I'm not sure either. O.o You could uninstall LW 5, go back to LW 4 & resume the files. Then install the 'latest' LW 5 which is LW 5.0_11 which is the beta version, not the alpha version like you are using (some things didn't even work in that version.)

in general, when a p2p program crashes, all files in progress are corrupted....the only program I know of where you have a chance of resumption is dc++ where you can adjust the rollback value and it might resume and get a full, uncorrupted, file..

old versions cant install
 

I got copies of 4.8 and 4.6 from Limewire and also F-hippo. At install, in finallizing stage, the setup windows have no buttons on bottom of screen to move to next step. Using ENTER i get past that till the last step, then ENTER wont even work. Have these old versions been sabatoged to prevent their use? I used to be a LW addict but this is really p+ssing me off.
Any info appreciated...Where are there proper old versions?

Other people have gone back to 4.18 without problems. Sounds like LW 5's preferences are the problem for you. However if you delete the entire LW preferences folder you will lose your download history. You will need to make a backup copy of a file called downloads.bak from the preferences folder. Then return that file to the preferences folder after installing LW 4.18 whilst LW is closed. I'm not sure of any other files needed for back up from LW 5 since it introduced a new manner of using the preferences folder.

You meant LW versions 4.16 & 4.18 right? Not 4.6 & 4.8 which are really quite old. Get LW 4.18 from here Lime Wire » Download Out-Of-Date Installers. If you were trying to install 4.6 & 4.8 then that might have been the problem. :)

Hi. Used your link. Still get no 'next' buttons after 1st step of setup wiz. Just as before. Any other ideas. Forget about incomlpete DLs. But get me going before i resort to Ares, Bearshare, etc.

I answered the identical problem for someone else which solved it. Find it yourself. Go to ares. I really do not care! :) I don't need pointless threats. Totally meaningless to me. :p Good luck with Ares (which is 3/4 dead anyway). :)

Shareaza has much better search results anyway...
 

My aren't we sensitive. Nothing personal guy, but the new LW5 is getting dogged on the CNET user reviews. You should have left well enough alone. As always...open source rules! Cheers
