Yes you are correct, it's the "Try Again" message, sorry. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. If not, likely the host has gone offline, or LW cannot find them using that ip address (many people use dynamic ip's, not static ip's nowadays), or all their upload slots are full (perhaps they have upload slots set to a low number so attempted downloads from that particular client will often fail if more than one or two others are waiting for a slot.)

If that's the case then, Search again using the search function. If all fails, take a break from it & look for something else until another day. Perhaps in a few days or couple weeks time you might be lucky to get a hold of the/a host with that identical file.

Something I should warn of is .. don't search the same thing too many times each hour. This can affect the ultrapeers you are connected to, they may consider you as a spammer & start to ignore your searches & not let the searches/search results pass through. This is a known issue.

In the situation I am chasing in this thread... the searched item with blue arrow is always the result of a new search... so I know that it is there, and available, I just can't get my partial download to resume with it... It's hard to imagine that I need the same IP as the original download, because if there are several versions of a file on the network, you will connect to multiple copies of the same file via multiple users.... hence the "downloading from x users" message. The blue arrow would lead me to believe that LW sees the file as the same as the original.

What do you think?

How many hosts are showing as having that file? If it's only one host, then obviously a problematic host. If several hosts in search results beside that blue arrow, I'd be concerned.

I am aware those that usually share mostly or only videos can be difficult to reconnect to, since their upload slots AND bandwidth might be very busy.
Personally, I don't have a great upload bandwidth capacity so when I'm uploading 2-3 videos at one time, others struggle to get other kinds of files from me.

Actually it sort of bugs me when the same host is trying to download 3 to 5+ videos from me at same time. I share over 10,000 files so .. you can probably imagine how this affects others. (if they concentrated on just one or perhaps 2 videos then they'd get reasonable speed & download them in acceptable time.)

Typically 1 host per... I'm almost all vids, looking for and sharing. I used to feel that way about the same host too... but my experience is that it's tough to find a host sharing files I want, and typically they will have multiple files I'd like, so I will indeed click 3 to 5 if they're there.... I certainly don't expect to get the files in a hurry... but I just want to keep track of the source, and make that preliminary connection... As a result, I am more understanding of others doing the same. ...so maybe that's why I am having a problem later on with those files.... Perhaps I should click the 3 to 5, and then pause all but one at a time???

Thanks

d

One at a time sounds wise, via pausing. It will put less pressure on the uploader. And more chance of gaining a spot I guess. Sometimes if a hosts up slots are low, it only takes an extra couple files to fall quickly off the queue, perhaps immediately.

Still haven't gotten the "Try Again" to resume a stalled download. I did notice that when I get the blue arrows of currently stalled files, in new searches... That often, it is the same user for all those files.... so it may be that he has blocked me? Would I still see his files if he had? Or perhaps there is one from him that is "waiting" and all the rest will remain stalled?

ALSO... the "find more results" has indeed found more. It seems like a silly second step in the search request. Is there a way to set your searches to look as diligently on the first search (and make the "find more results" unnecessary?)

Thx!

One big question no one has asked you. Are you shareing any files? if you do not share or have not set up anything to share YOU can be BANNED or BLOCKED by the person you are trying to download from because this is a P2P file shareing network. Many peopel feel that if you do not share what you have YOU do not deserve to be downloading from those who do share.
