Need help with a problem !!!! Suddenly bandwidth drops despite downloading from multiple hosts

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) Windows XP

2. What firewalls you have? Kerio (free Edition

3. How much ram? 256

4. Hard Disk space available? 30gbs

5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Broadband

6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? (eg: Linksys WRT54Gv4) Fujitsu (came with the isp provider at the time was Onetel now Talktalk)

7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House

8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help bar > About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. _ Click to see Sample image
*It's very important that you tell us whether you're using LW 5* Limewire 5.1.2 Pro Java 1.6.0_11

9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Talk Talk

10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Your test worked

11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No

12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. 1st try

13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? _ click here to see Sample image
If you're using LW5, there's no firewall icon. In LW go tools > advanced tools...there you'll see whether you're behind a firewall or not. Yes behind a fire wall (am called a leafnode???)

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? ????

15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall :) AVG free edition (7)

16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). UK

17. Has anything in your setup changed recently? Have you updated your version of LW or Java? Have you added any new software or new hardware? Have you updated any software? Have you moved house, changed internet plan or ISP etc etc? No

Have recently bought the Limewire Pro ( 2 days ago infact) and have downloaded a bittorrent which limewire has opened and started to download. Well it gets to 85% and then tells me that 4/5 people are downloading but nothing is showing on the download (no bitrate thingies)I have a turbo connection I gather but there it stays at 85!!!!!!! :mad2:Have uninstalled and reinstalled both limewire and torrent but still nothing doing !!! Any suggestions would be more than helpful..................(Please remember tho that I am not the most gifted person when it comes to technical matters :o)
Many thanks

First problem I can see is your ISP is TalkTalk. From memory they block/shape bandwidth for p2p sharing over various times of the day. You will find TalkTalk listed here in point #5 http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-limewire.html. (click the link in that post to read more about TalkTalk)

So yes it sounds to me like whilst using LW, you pass that point in the day (time of day) when TalkTalk's shaping on p2p begins & your bandwidth drops. This would only apply to using p2p sharing software. So this will affect LW & any torrent program you use. :(

For your software firewall, make sure XP firewall is turned off, & you have an exception for LW in Kerio's firewall; Setting up an exception for LimeWire in your software firewall (click in link)
