These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community. |

downloads not disappearing im having this new problem, i was downloading a lot of files when my pc crashed, when it was back up my downloads had disappear and a message telling me to export em from the incomplete files section so i went there and restarted all the files but the files never downloaded just stayed in looking for sources so i decided to cancel them... i canceled all the files and restarted LW but the files keept reappearing no matter how many times i canceled em, so i went to the incomplete in LW delete em there and then in the folder and the files are still reappearing in the download section even if there are no files anywhere. so i uninstalled and reinstalled, deleteing all folder relate to LW in the process and even then the ghost files still appear in the download section of LW, it just broken i dunno what to do the only thing i can think is messing with the reg and deleting all instances of LW... is anyone know how to fix it pls tell me |

Find the incomplete folder, delete it! The entire folder, not the contents. Only do this whilst LW is closed. Might also be wise to delete your LW preferences folder: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/window...tml#post183932 |

Downloads not disappearing The Problem For about a fort-night I've had an issue where if I start a download, then cancel it, the file continues to download. The file is not shown in the downloads pane, but the summary bit (eg “1@ 12kbs”) shows the download continuing. If you exit Limewire before the down completes and restart, the download reappears in the downloads pane. Interestingly once a download completes, it does not reappear on restart. Things I’ve tried: - Have reinstalled Limewire Pro and even installed earlier versions (and version 5.x [which I’m not a fan of]). Have also uninstalled limewire and Java, deleted any leftover files and folders (hidden ones too), run Registry Cleaners, then re installed everything. - Have restored settings folders from backup. - Have done scans using Spybot, Sophos, Ad-aware, AVG and ZoneAlarm. - Have looked through forums and google. Am not seeing the behavior some mention where files can’t be deleted. Have seen the odd entry from folk who seem to have had the same problem. Could this be something about entries not being deleted from downloads.dat file? Have used limewire for years prior to this with no problems. I’d really appreciate help on this. Background stuff I’ve just provided stuff I reckon is relevant. Program and OS: 1. Name and version of your Gnutella program? LimeWire Pro. Various versions tried. Have used 4.18.8 for months until issue showed up. Also tried 5.1.2 and older versions too. Java = 1.6.0_13 OS version? XP Pro SP3 3. Is this a your 1st try at using the program or is this a new problem with an experienced user? Have been a happy LimewirePro user for 5+ years. Your computer: 4. What firewalls you have? ZoneAlarmPro 5. How much ram? 3GB 6. Hard Disk space available? GB’s available 7. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Sophos, AVG, Ad- Aware, AVG Your Network Connection: 8. Connection type? broadband, 15. Has anything in your setup changed recently? I can’t link the problem to a specific change or event. I do wonder if it was a file I downloaded via LW, but that suspicious file was shredded (manually using shredding software). |

Perhaps I'm jumping to conclusions, but does sound like a junk file ... despite cancelling from download window continues to download each time LW is opened. 'IF' it is the same, only answer is to (a) cancel from download window, & then (b) close LW, (c) delete the incomplete folder itself. 'If' it is the same file in question you are dealing with & I have myself, not sure if it affects files around it, but could remove the other decent incomplete files from the incomplete folder before deleting it. After deleting the incomplete folder, create a new one of same name, then return the other incomplete files inside. I presume you've seen this Virus thread: Typical virus spam file sizes - Make a note of them (click on blue link to see). This does not list every single virus or junk file, but does list the most commonly found ones to be aware of. |

Thanks for your reply LOTR. Yes have seen alot of posts from folk such as yourself on this and have noted the typical fake files (have had experience of the 5611 Kb one on other occasions but not recently). Just to clarify a few points. Really have deleted ALL files/folders related to Limewire and tried to start with a clean slate. Hasn't worked. Should also point out that I've had this problem trying to download many different audio files. So it's not a case of me trying to get the same file. Any file I now try to download seems to give me this issue. If I delete the downloads.dat it creates a new one, but the problem persists. I had tried before, but just retried your advice of shreding the Incomplete folder, then recreating it. Even then, starting with the new empty Incompletes folder, whatever I try to download, I get the issue. Another point that might be relevant (but could be coincidence) in recent files I've downloaded, while I've been able to play files using WMP once completed, I don't know that I have been able to play them during downloading with the limewire player. I do recall warnings about "unplayable files". Just to experiment, I just downloaded a file, which I can play using WMP, but leaving it in the Saved Files folder, can't launch from within LW using the LW player...that's weird eh? Not too sure where to go from here. |

i have the same issue from time to time, but i worked my way around it by, instead of caneclling off the bat, i pause it, click explore to find the file, delete it and then cancel it... its a hassle but it gets rid of the file for good. |

Yes thanks for that Meromex, it works for me too. I'm intrigued by the phrase 'time to time' in your message. Does that mean you sometimes fix the issue (or it goes away for periods?) |
