Unhappy Donwload current files list lost after supply crash !

Hello everybody,

I'll try to do my best with my poor English !

Yesterday, i was downloaded several files (all was ok).
Then, there was a "power supply crash" in my house.
I restarted my PC.
Since my LW (5.1.2 pro + Win XP SP2) don't find my current files download list !
Nothing changes in my shared files.
I still can see the incomplete files in the "incomplete" directory.
I have nothing in my recycle bin.
I tried this:
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/downlo...downloads.html
But it didn't work !

I need some heeeeeeeelp !!!!

Thanks for all...

I'm not too sure about this one

LW 5 doesn't have any 'resume' function like LW 4 - incomplete downloads should resume automatically when sources are found. And even if the downloads are stalled, they should still show up in the download tray at the bottom of LW's page.

In LW click on View & make sure that you don't have 'hide download tray' ticked.

If you click on 'Show All' do you see any incomplete downloads?

Default Donwload current files list lost after supply crash !

Hello Birdy,

Thanks to help me...

I'm going to try to explain a bit more.

Usually, incomplete (or not started) downloads resumed automatically until the "power supply crash" (sorry, i don't know the good words in English ! ). When i was shutt down, all the files was restart automatically ni the next LW start...

This time, i had about 100 or 120 files downloading and i can saw them downloading with the button "show all".
After the "power supply crash", there's now only 7 files with "stalled" status. All others files with "Incomplete" or "not started yet" status have disappeared from the current downloading list.
When i go in the "incomplete" folder of my PC, i can see them (incomplete of course !). For example: i had a 11Go file in my donwloading list. Now i can see it in the "incomplete" folder (6,5Go) but not in my current downloading list. Its donwload don't start again now when LW starts.

And i don't know how to have it again in download list...

Thanks for your help !

LW 5 is new & strange in a lot of ways - things that worked with LW 4 may not work in the same way with LW 5.

Over 100 downloads at once is a lot!! Maybe you could cut back on that number a bit?

I'm not 100% sure (I'm not a developer) but maybe the downloads which had never started have just disappeared by default since the crash - if a file had never started downloading then there wouldn't be any % of the file to save as an incomplete file.

Try this: start a new search for the files that show when you click on 'Show All'. Don't cancel the original download (because that will delete it forever)... just search again & see whether those downloads will continue. I've had downloads that were stuck & a new search moved them along.

Once some of those downloads complete, clear the finished downloads from the download tray - now see whether some of the other downloads that show in your Incomplete folder (but don't show when you click 'show all') move along so that you can see them in the download tray.

In fact, i think LW4 was better than LW5 !

I had 100 downloads but not in the same time ! I fact, i said i had about 100 but they was perhaps a bit less...
I just allowed 6 downloads in the same time. All others where in the list and was waiting for one completed files to start download.

I must admit i don't use the "search" function of LW. Sometimes it gives curious results... I have better tools for this ! I just use LW to download...

I tried to make a new search for the files i still can view in "show all" but there were no result for that. So i searched an other file and found it. I just started to download it.

All other files with "stalled" status had "searching for people with this file..." status after the start of the download. But i didn't see any file more.
I'll wait to have this new file compete to see if something change. I must admit i have a little, little (very little !) hope...

I tryied to close and re-open LW with this new file in download list but nothing change...

You'll read me very soon !

Thanks for all...

You can easily go back to using LW 4 if you think it's better than LW 5

LW basic users can download here: Lime Wire » Download Out-Of-Date Installers

And Pro users have a link on the left side of their Pro download page - 'Get LimeWire Classic'.

Are you downloading torrents - using another site for the search & then opening the torrent with LW? LW's not a good torrent client. It doesn't keep track of share ratio, there's no way of choosing which files you want to download from within a torrent & there seem to be issues with continuing seeding torrents after the file's downloaded. I don't use private trackers but I've heard that LW's banned on some private trackers.
You're better off using a dedicated torrent client - the 2 most popluar are
Vuze and uTorrent.

Thanks for your ideas !

In fact, i was download from emule, then newsgroups and now from torrent.
You've got right with the method. I use some sites to have torrent files and use LW for download.

I'm not a pro (for sure !). I tried LW4 and think it works well. I paid for the LW5 for updates and support. I'm not sure to want to downgrade to LW4 after given my $ !
I contacted support and i'm waiting for an answer from them...

If i don't have a good solution, i'll change this f*@#ing LW with an other soft !

LW 4 Pro is great for gnutella network. Vuze & uTorrent are great for torrents. Keep them separate. LW 5 lacks all the tools LW 4 has.

Hello everybody !

Thanks you guys for your help...

I downloaded and running µtorrent. It works very well !!!!! about 4x or 5x faster than LW 5 for the same file ! Some good priority options, well it's a good soft !

I'll have a "LW5 pro" one week old for sale...

I found how to retrieve my old files with LW (for someone is interesting).
When i was searching files, i was downloading the .torrent, then open and download it with LW.
I searched all my .torrent on my HD (i choose not to delete them on my system). I tried to put a .torrent (from a previously partially downloaded file) in LW.
LW has restarted this file not from 0 but the previously downloaded size. Victory !!!!!

But finally, i decided no restart all my files with LW but µtorrent...
Because he is faster, it will take less time to redownload all my current files from 0 !

Thanks for those who helps me !
