Default Problem with downloading a file - CONNECTING

My Limewire used to work all the time - I am using Lime wire PRO 5.1.2

I always get turbo charged connection. But when I select a file to download all that happens it that the file says it is connecting and does not start to download , I have tried re installing it and putting a older version on and vica versa but to no success . I always make sure that it as at least 2 - 3 users with the file . Also I have tried several different files but none of them download .

I was hoping someone would be able to help me , since I have paid for lime wire pro i am not getting the full service . I have also contacted LIME WIRE about this problem but they have not replied back to me yet .

Hope someone can help me out

Thanks in advance

Not sure what you mean by that. When you choose to download a file, the file is being shared by people such as you & me & others across the world. The exception is for files that are spammed across the network by sponsored companies attempting to stop p2p sharing.

There might be several reasons a file may not succeed in connecting. eg: The uploaders have all their upload slots busy. Or there might be firewall issues either at your end or theirs. The sharers of the file might be dial up users, something LW 5 does not show properly. Dial up users can be extremely difficult to connect to since they have such small amount of bandwidth.

Then some people choose not to share, even though the files show up in their shares, they set uploads to zero. Or ... remove their files from share as soon as they download them. I've spoken via LW chat to someone who admitted to doing this.

The chosen download file might be a spammed file. There's all different types of spammed files. Some are fake in that you can never connect to them. These could be recognised more easily in LW 4 than they can in LW 5. Then there's the other types of spam which might be advertising, porn, viruses, etc. A good guide to some of the most common spam file sizes is listed here: Virus thread: Typical virus spam file sizes - Make a note of them (click on blue link to see).

If downloading videos, a good way to check if they are good or not is using Bitzi to see if they are listed there: How to use Bitzi Web Lookup. A good guide on what file sizes to choose for video is listed here: Movie download issues (click on blue link) (2nd last post has information on best video formats.)

Keep searching for more sources, use the 'Find/Get More Results' option by right-clicking the search tab.
