Unhappy Still cannot change save directory

Hi All,

I just installed LW224 Pro. However, whenever I try to change the directory to save downloads to, it always says that it's invalid and forces me to use the default.

This happened in 223, as well. Anybody else seeing this?

Thanks!

Talking No

Dude thats you and your computer.

Learn how to direct things in your computer

C:\Moron_questions (directory of your choice) to save the files.
If you can't change it whn you type this obvious directive see if you have privileges to do such drastic changes as moving the mouse on your pc (policy foo)

Default Thanks so much

Hey thanks for the response. It helps to know that you are so funny. Unfortunately, I'm not so moronic as to not know how to put path information into my system.

The problem may be my computer, but it's not me. (At least in this case.)

Go back and play some more Dungeons and Dragons.

Default Can't put save directory on network drive

I'm seeing this behavior too -- but only when trying to change the download directory to a network drive. I have two computers and want to share a single library, but can't make it work.

(I had the problem in pro versions 2.2.2, 2.2.3, and 2.2.4)

If you're using Windows XP. perhaps the folder you're directing to is a Read Only folder. Have your tried creating some new empty oflder in, say My Documents and directing to that? If you do, you can then fix up the file names and Properties (i.e. Artist, Title) of downloaded files. When the filename, and Artist, Title, Genre, and any other properties you track are all correct and uptdate. Then move them into My Music when they're all cleaned up. Then run Media Library to search for music on your My Documents folder, and all the songs will be categorized by Artist. Genre, Title and so forth in Media Player's Media Library.

Default That did it!

Thanks for the response. I am using Win2k, so the read-only suggestion applied to it as well. I don't know how, but the directory was marked as read only.

Changing the properties of the directory, for some reason, was not permanent. As soon as I closed the properties and the re-opened them, the directory was once again marked as read-only. I had to go to a command prompt and issue the "attrib -r" command. Once I did this, it began working properly.

I have no idea what could have locked the directory like that. Any ideas?

Red face Same Problem

I've had the same problem in WinXp Pro as this other guy. I'm not a moron either. I resolved the issue by UnInstalling LimeWire and using another client which SUCKS.

Can you please post the entire fix for this? Something about using the Command Line and an attribute for it??

It's annoying as all hell and I want to use LimeWire not XXXXX.

THANKS!!

Default Hell yeah this is annoying!

Just purchased the pro version as well. E-mail to their support has resulted in no reply. I did the attrib -r command to My Documents using the command:

attrib -r "c:\documents and settings\username\my documents\*.*" -r /s

I checked the attributes to the folder via Windows Explorer after doing this and the folder is still read-only. No fix yet. I have to assume that this folder isn't really read-only and this is just an XP trick. Other programs like Winamp/Morpheus/MusicMatch can write to this folder just fine. I have to assume it's either LimeWire or the Sun JVM.

Any answers from one of the 6 full-time LimeWire developers would be greatly appreciated.
