Hi (no search results)

I have just installed limewire basic and I am afraid I am having problems using it. When I run a search ie for audio. Doesn't matter who I search I get no results.

I also though you could see people that were only to search there music and stuff. But I see nothing.

It asks me to sign in with gmail but it doesn't give you a register option:confused:

Sorry for being so dumb but I dont understand what is happening here.

Thanks for your help

Which version of LW are you using (in LW click on Help > about LW if you're not sure)?

Are you fully connected to the network (all green connection bars in the bottom left corner of LW)?

Have you used any other versions of LW before?

Providing LW is properly connected to the network:

1.
LW 4: In LW go tools > options > searching > basic & check whether the 'show license warning' box is ticked. If it's ticked , untick it > Apply > ok...see if that makes any difference.

LW 5: In LW go tools > options > security. Click on the Settings button, next to Warning Messages > untick the box referring to license > ok. Click ok on the main options page.

2. Problems with the search

3. Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will change all of your settings within LW's options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things to the way you like them.
Vista users: LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista

4. LW 4: Disable all options (TLS, DHT, UP capablilties) within LW's tools > options > advanced > performance. Click Apply > ok to save the change.

LW 5: In LW tools > options > advanced > super really advanced > performance. Disable ultrapeer capabilities, connecting to DHT & also TLS > ok.

If LW isn't properly connected to the network, please give us your system details: System details - help us to help you -> Provide these details when you post!!!

LW 5.1.3

Yes fully connected

Yes I have used lw before not sure which one. Also downloaded what I thought was lw to later find that it was a fake lw that downloaded viruses on to my computer. That has all been fixed

I will try the other suggestions you have here
