(3KB/s) from 8 P2P Users

this is really beginning to bum me out,, its been a while since I used limewire and if i remember the version was something like 4.6.13 and was able too get top speeds (at times) from my 2mb broadband and that version was simple to use, I'm now using the latest free version (wows its different,, i don't really like the new layout but prolly cos its such a big change from the last version i used,, time to grow i guess,,, if i can get some speed that is) and have a 7mb connection coming in (speedtest), yet as the title sez I may as well not bother... why am I getting such poor speeds... I've

-given unlimited speeds
- turned off being a Ultrapeer
- turned of this Mojo thing
- disconnected and reconnected many a time
- download one file at a time

I'm using XP pro SP3 (using its firewall), have 512Ram.. 20gb space left, I'm on a DSL connection (BT)..

I'm not getting any error reports just can't for the life of me use the bandwidth I have with the limewire client

all help getting me much faster is well appreciated

What type of file(s) are you downloading? If torrent files, then patience is best. Giving lots of upload bandwidth helps.

If Gnutella network files, then re-search the topic of the files again, then some time later right-click the search tab & choose Find More Results. This will hopefully find more hosts to download from. Unfortunately in LW 5 you cannot delete the download file & re-select it from search results to help give it a fresh start because doing so deletes the incomplete file.

file tpye is just mp3 audio files,, downloading music tracks.. and I'm searching the files through the client (so the Gnutella network, i guess)..

the right click you talk of, i clearly remeber this from the days back and was a regular feature i used and does work a charm.. however this missing from my right-click options.. which brings me to onto another part about the new limewire5.. limewire4 kicked ****,, i put in a search and even with basic priviallages it would throw back hundreds of search results,, whether as 5 is rather, well, not good at all,, i get far more what can only be considered as spam and no real files.. I finding it really difficult to find a real file of tracks i had easily downloaded of 4, on 5 and when I do get one getting more sources is a struggle,, then it does seem I'm missing the right-click option so this could be hindering me greatly...

one file a min ago downloaded at 50kb with only 1P2P so its there, its just properly tuning into it, i guess

Also something else a bit off topic is that i can no longer see the size of the file, which was damn handy to see right away whether it was of mp3 size

(my right-click options are) on a current download

pause
preview
---------
locate on disk
locate in library
change location
----------
browse files
block user
----------
cancel download
----------
view file info

Thanks

The Find More Results is mentioned & sample image half-way down this page http://www.gnutellaforums.com/gettin...d-windows.html

Canceling a download will delete the incomplete file also.

Maybe you're being hit by BT's FUP (see link below). Also check out point B (Network Management) in that link.
BT Total Broadband Fair Usage Policy | Help | BT.com

Try downloading outside of BT's peak hours & see whether speeds improve.

Click on Audio category, to the left of search results. Now right click on the column header & tick 'size'... you'll be able to see file size in search results:)

Niice,, its a BT issue with P2P, which totally explains the sudden increase of 50KB on only 1p2p after 12 last night.. you've done me proud Birdy, many thanks

thanks for the links I did have a look around after my registration but after reading all that text for newcomers and the rest of the stuff I read, kinda got sick of reading and searching and got onto making a post..

Have since found the feature from your help and if I'm to be quite frank,, its rubbish,,, unlike 4 which searched a percific(?) file, 5 just looks on a wider range, finding yet more random files, which for me ain't helping.. to further this I have to say that Pro might be the way to go (to find more peers) but I'm not exactly encouraged to pay out for this version and the changes made.. I may well look more into that other post about going back to 4.16 but at a quick glance and not being entirely computer savvy seemed a bit complicated...

Thanks Lord of the Rings my main reason for being here has been sorted and some, and the last bit was just a bit of feedback.. Thanks again
