LW is trying to tell you that the file you just downloaded was either Corrupt, Fake, or Spam. Don't question these results unless you enjoy cleaning Viruses and Malware from your computer. Look for another file and of coarse always use Bitzi when possible. :)

I believe I read somewhere that LW is working on identifying these Infected files sooner instead of identifying them when the D/L has finished. Time will tell.

I call bull!
This has happened to me as well, and it's just stupid to say that limewire's canceling nothing but viruses and malware.
I just spent weeks downloading a huge file, only to get that crap message and to find my download deleted! GAH!
While it was downloading, I checked out the incomplete folder... and the file was fine!
BTW.... I'd rather have to clean up my computer of viruses and malware... as long as I get my download.
WE SHOULD AT LEAST GET THE OPTION to cancel or continue.
I hate to flame, but this is a very serious problem. Don't just blow us off. Don't patronize us. Don't pat us on our heads and say 'it's alright...it's for your own good'.

Issue is .. the file whilst it might play ok, has a virus or similar malware embedded within it. These are known bad files, not random ones.

bubba2match November 14th, 2009 01:35 PM

Yes, well. Despite that fact, I would still like to have the option to download those files. If I'm spending hours of my time downloading a file... maybe I... oh what is it? Maybe I...hmmm... what is it that I... WANT! OH THAT'S IT! WANT! MAYBE I WANT THE DAMN FILE!
The issue that you're talking about is the virus. The issue I am talking about (along with the OP, I'm sure) is CHOICE.
Of course there's risk involved. There are viruses everywhere. It's not Limewire's job to clean out our computers. It's ours. That's why we have virus protection programs. That's why we do scans.
Anywho, gotta fly. I need to find another way to download the files I'm looking for! Cuz obviously Limewire is not going to do the job.

A Yeah, Limewire is not the app. you want to use too download large files. Single music files, sure, it's fine for that.

I can offer a solution that may help you out depending on your experiance and ability. I D/L 4GB files and larger that are much safer, generally speaking, all the time in usually less than an hour. There are some that can do this in just minutes. This will depend on several things. ISP being a Big part of it.

If you are interested in what I may suggest, PM me.

BTW we here at the Gnutella Forums have absolutly nothing to do with LW other than maybe using the program. We are all volunteers and are here to help members that are having issues.
Having an attitude when you come in here will get you no where fast. :whistling:

How large is the file? If it's a video movie & less than 500 MB in size then it's either going to be poor quality or porn or similar.

The LW company is under pressure from authorities to add these security measures to the program. You might be unaware but LW has been undergoing court action & negotiations for a couple of years now. This is another reason LW no longer offers older versions at their site.

I believe from what a dev suggested is at some point a later LW version will actually prevent files that are bad from being downloaded or soon after it has begun instead of canceling & deleting at end of downloading process.
