Download problem: downloads have been stalling at 95%

My downloads have been stalling at 95% and I don't seem to get beyond that point? I use Windows XP. What am I doing wrong and how can I complete my downloads?

Lord of the Rings December 30th, 2009 04:42 PM

Are these Torrent or Gnutella network files?

Best method is to re-search the files as you did when you were originally searching for them. In that way you can find fresh hosts of the files. Also 5-10 mins later, right-click the search tab & choose Find More Results. _ The Fix Stalled option basically only attempts to search for the hosts it was originally downloading from, so if they are offline or busy you are stuck.

Downloads stall at 95% consistently....

This problem has occurred several times using several different source users.....and retrying or searching over again appears to bring the same results.....stalling at 95% every time...

Lord of the Rings December 30th, 2009 10:32 PM

Try this: right-click each of those downloads & choose Change Location. Move the download to a different partition or hard disk drive.

dowload problem, stalled at 95%

Sorry, you lost me when you got to the part about partition....and move to hard disk drive. I've had a computer a long time, but never did get the hang of a lot of technical jargon, etc........But I'll try and give it a shot. Thanks for your suggestions!

Means Right-click the file in the download window. From the pop-up window that shows, choose Change Location .. then browse your computer ... if your files are normally going to Drive C where personal files usually are, then change to Drive D or E or F, etc. :)
Means you'd need to go upward in directory from your default download location.

In example image below, could choose Drive E (Local Disk E) instead as an alternate place to download to.

download problem, stalling at 95%

When I right click on file in download window, I am able to select Choose new location, as suggested; but when the pop up window opens, I see Drivers but nothing happens when I right click or left click on drivers.....what am I doing wrong?

SandyW December 31st, 2009 10:25 AM

Even though I create a new file, Local Disk (E) for my download to now go to, I am still getting a stall at 95%. Is this because I have created something I didn't have before or some other reason?

Peerless December 31st, 2009 11:11 AM

is this for ALL downloads?...every single one?

SandyW December 31st, 2009 11:35 AM

download problem...stalling at 95% in all instances...

Yes, this just started happening a week or so ago.......all downloads! Before that no problems downloading. In between, I did upgrade to the most recent LimeWire Basic version.....

Lord of the Rings December 31st, 2009 06:12 PM

Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at near of page.) Make sure you remove the Downloads.dat file from this folder first before you do this!
After deleting the preferences folder, open LW only for a moment. Then close. Then re-add the Downloads.dat file to the new preferences folder.

Be careful in each step of doing this ! .. Make sure LW is not open .. and make sure you remove the Downloads.dat file before deleting the preferences folder. And only return the Downloads.dat file after you have closed LW after a short opening. This will retain your download history. Note: The Downloads.dat file might only be called Downloads in your preferences folder if extensions are hidden.

Perhaps, just in case of a mishap in the process, make a copy of the Downloads.dat file from your LW preferences folder. In that way you can always go back to that copy (save the copy to a different hard disk drive partition such as Drive E would be ideal!)

thanks for that, Just hope I don't mess things up

dancing girl January 4th, 2010 12:28 AM

well, I tried but it hasn't worked. At the moment 3 downloads are stalled at 95% and supposed to be 'waiting next in line'. However, I could be waiting a long time (like forever!!) for the remainder of downloads as this is what's been happening for the past week.

ETA I think I'll remove LW and find another site because I'm simply wasting my time and downloads

Lord of the Rings January 4th, 2010 05:52 AM

Sound a little like an impatient person. If you've been using LW for a while & never seen files stall around 90+% then I'd be surprised. 3 downloads stalled is not exactly anything to panic about.

Gnutella is not a download site, it is a network that people share across. So the files you are downloading are from people just like you, me & the next person sharing their own files. :)

I am sorry to hear my suggestion to try did not work for you. Perhaps there is a bug with the present LW version, I don't know. You could always try an earlier version of course, or even another gnutella network client such as Phex, etc. :)

Another source is torrents of course, but for torrents I'd suggest either uTorrent or Vuse (previously called Azureus.)

Downloads stalling at 95%

to Lord of the Rings....sorry if I came across as impatient, you are right, I do have a low frustration level! Since your last post I tried other downloads from LW and they were successful without incident. I guess the ones I posted about must have been rather obscure pieces at best, so I just decided they weren't worth worrying about. Many thanks for all your suggestions.

dancing girl January 5th, 2010 12:55 AM

Lord of the rings, thank you for your reply. I apologize if I came across as impatient. I've not been able to download for some time. All downloads stopped at 95% and there remained. I uninstalled LW and installed FW last evening and the songs which stalled in LW I was able to download without problems in FW. I don't know what went wrong with LW but there was obviously something not quite right. Maybe there was a bug in the system. I appreciate your input and thank you again for your help

Shawty99923 January 20th, 2010 01:56 AM

yup. this is happening to me too :(
ima need help, please.

dancing girl January 20th, 2010 10:52 PM

I tried all the suggestions that were posted but nothing would fix the problem. all music stuck on 95%. I then deleted LW and downloaded frostwire. No probs there, everything downloaded fine including the ones that were stuck. :xeri_ok1ani:
I only hope that others will still be able to upload music from my computer

Wow, some real a-holes in here. Anyone with half a brain cell can do 15 seconds of research and find out there are a LOT of people across the internet seeing this exact problem. ALL downloads stall at 95%. There's obviously something going on here, because it's always at 95%.

But I guess I am just impatient.

Well, no one seems to have found a solution as yet. I've uninstalled limewire and am not downloading it again. The program is too troublesome. FrostWire is good so far.
