I use Windows Vista, 56K and have LW5.4. Problem is that I changed from the 4.18.8. Now I cannot find more than a few songs at a time for almost anyone. With the 4.18 I was able to get dozens of results when putting a title or artist in search. I even found Al J*lson. Now I cannot even find him. I've tried to go back to 4.18 but nothing happens using the advice I've seen here. Please help, I need it. Thanks

But I must point out .. many of those results you might have been getting with LW 4.18 were probably spam .. which LW 5 auto-filters out .. many at least.

Thanks, I'll try that first. Before this I have downloaded close to 500 files and have always had many results to my searches.

hey there, im new to this limewire pro 5.4 and much rather an old one that no longer can find, which i had and then because of java no longer worked, i find with this new one nothing comes up, search and nothing, where as the old limewire would have everything.. and not spam maybe some but you can tell which downloads were good by looking at it and this new one no results and you cant tell if its a good file or a bad one, which from limewire pro 5.4 i already have got a virus. plus im using vista but never had a problem with it until now. i just cant get enough search results and never have what im looking for... also i hate the set up of limewire, i liked how your search would remember in stead of re typing every time you wanna search and i liked how you could easily search under titles like artist, albums, but instead have to go to another part of search engine.. i gotta say it kinda suxs. so how can i get a better search results?

In regards to some parts of your concerns, you can enable such in options.
The search function: LW's menu bar, Tools -> Options -> Search. You can enable Remember my recent searches. You can also set default search type there.

To do specific search type, you can either click the drop down search type option to left of search box, else, under Tools menu choose Advanced Search which will give more search options for that file type. I suspect this is what you were unhappy about missing from LW 4 search abilities.

Unfortunately, there are no old versions available for Windows users. Not for Pro users at least.

Not sure if you are interested in trying, but there is the LW 5.5 Beta just released today which has the AVG anti-virus option to use with it.
