Default Help Please ... Unable to scan for viruses

Bear with me please, I'm new to the Gnutella Forum and to LimeWire. Did you get a resolution to the message "unable to scan for viruses"? I am in the same boat and have checked my tools/options/transfer settings to be sure it's set to scan files on download. I have Windows Vista (with Service Pack 2) and am running LimeWire 5.6.2

Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance, SamLuvsEm

I have the same problem when I down load it wants to scan for virus. I have mcafee and I tell Mcafee to scam share folder and then megabyte to do the same. It would be better if limewire could tell the virus program to check the file. I guess it just does not know how. I have been using lime wire a lone time and it never checked virus. The pirate program wants to.

If you're happy to use your McAfee to scan files, you could always try File_Girl71's version of Pirate Edition. See post #3 here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/gettin...e-edition.html

As you can see, she's got rid of AVG.

AVG might be broken in the Pirate Edition... I saw the same thing.

Did it ever work previously for you in PE?

Might be easier for you to use your own AV to scan files. Keep your regular AV updated & then use it to scan new files from LW's saved folder after download.

If it's annoying you to see the error, you can uncheck the scan option (tools > options > transfers > uncheck 'scan files I download for viruses' > ok) then you shouldn't see the 'unable to scan' message.

Or you could use File_Girl's version of PE, which has no AVG included.
