AVG's paid version seems to have real time protection. But I don't think the free one does. That's something you should check out. But it's quick & easy to scan manually anyway... just get into the habit of scanning a file as soon as it's downloaded Quote:

A Beta version is normally released for testing - so that bugs can be identified & fixed. Once that happens there's usually either a release candidate or a stable release. Software release life cycle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

It is not possible to activate new LW 5.5 Pro versions. For many people, the AV has stopped working in the Pirate Edition. Likewise for mine. hmm for my LW 5.5.9 Pro, it seems it is now no longer seeking AV updates. It's my guess the AV internet link connection has been deliberately broken by either LW.org, RIAA or AVG. Thus, AVG is no longer sending AV updates to LW users. |

I forgot to mention anyway, not sure if it makes a difference, but in LW's menu bar, Tools -> Options -> Transfers, there is an option to enable AV scanning for downloaded files. However I have my doubts it will work if there are no AV definitions installed anyway. This seems to be broken as mentioned. |
