Changed folder settings; now no files are being uploaded. Limewire vn.5.1.4 Vista 6.0 build 6002 service pack 2 I changed the sub folder where my downloads were stored as I wanted all data (LW and non LW) to be in the one area; this makes backups more straightforward. Since this happened LW tells me that I am sharing no files although the folders have been specified via tools - options - my library. I have tried quitting and re-starting but to no avail. I have had this before - LW will share only files that were added after the change took place. There is a configure button on the options screen for sharing categories, but changing the setting has no effect. Grateful for advice. M |
I think this might have been a bug in that version of LW (5.1). The most recent version is LW 5.5.13 so not sure you wish to update. Download LimeWire 5.5.13 - Lime Wire The system of sharing back in that version is a little different to now, it's much more straight forward. LW 5.1 used what might be called 'watch' or 'monitor' folders, if any new files were added to those folders they would be added to share, or library at least (I can't recall which.) |
I've upgraded but I'm still not uploading and LW is still telling me I have no shared files. According to explorer there are 464 of them. There was a warning that a folder in users\admin should be chosen, but I've used c:\data\limewire_saved before without problems. There can't be a spelling mistake because I navigated to it using the browse button on the options screen. I've just started a new torrent which has a little over a day to go, and if past trends continue I'll end up sharing the 25 files I am downloading and no others. It looks as if I'm doing something wrong - but what? M |
I've never used Vista, but used XP & Win 7. I do not see any c:\data\ option. For me on Windows 7, the default download location seems to be C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\LimeWire\Saved Previous Windows default location was C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents Sometimes you need to right-click LW & choose Run As Administrator to overcome permission issues. Yes you can change the download location such as a level higher up the directory but be sure you have permissions to use the area you select. You can drag & drop files or folders onto the Public Shared icon on LW to become shared. Else drop onto Library icon first, then decide which to share, right-click & choose Add to List (eg: Public Shared.) |
c:\data isn't an option - it's a folder I created. It holds everything that I want backed up on a regular basis - not just LW downloads but Excel and Word files, my daughter's schoolwork, videos from Youtube and so on. A few weeks ago I wrote that I had a torrent that crashed part way through; I downloaded another version of it from a different site and it was at that point that I moved the LW folders out of the C drive. The reason was that I didn't want the two downloads - the crashed one and the working one - to get confused. That led to two backups having to be done so today I changed back. The new version is working but does not seem to have the functionality of the old version, and when I rebooted the PC earlier this evening it restarted the download so several hours worth was lost. I'm reluctant to quit and try going in as adminsitrator in case more downloads are lost. I'll try in a few days time when there is nothing that can be lost. M |

eg: Vuse has options to manually recheck the data & will adjust the download % as needed. |
