I downloaded 62.4 MB QT file, but can only view the first 3 MB!!!!

I've noticed this before, but when I download some files, ONLY a small portion of the file will actually play.

I checked the progress of the file in the middle of the (5 hour!) download, and it played the first minute or so of the file - checked it later, and it played ONLY the first 30 seconds or so - went back and checked it still later, and it played nearly 2 minutes of the file - went back even later and it played ONLY the first 15 or so seconds of the Vid.

What's going on?
