I have very little computer knowledge and am trying to learn. I have been trying to download movies. I have DSL and I am picking hosts with DSL, 4 stars. I am also using titles that have the most hosts sharing them. I have even gone in and changed my firewall properties using the directions I found on site. After doing all this I have up to 6 hosts downloading to me but I am getting very slow progress. I have been downloading the same moviefor the last 20 min. and only gotten 5% of it. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

After several days on with 25 files in the share folder I had no uploads and <5kb downloads. I'm on open wireless dsl signal from a nieghbor with an old laptop that has zone alarm firewall.

Well I turned of the firewall for 5 minutes and voila the uploads started and download speed increased. I the firewall back on and i'm still getting new uploads and better down load speed.

The only problem is now I feel like a deer that farted in a forrest full of wolves because i'm getting repeated attemps to access my machine (netbios) ports vary but 139 seems frequent.

Hum, should I turn off the alerts (ignore) ?
Or maybe I should keep tweaking these programs.

P.S. I have never seen donloads over 25kb eccept when using Bittorrent clients.

how downloading be increase by 5kbps to 50kbps
