when i download a bunch of movie clips eventually all of them will say "low disk space"

from what ive read...ive tried to do the following:

1) run disk cleanup
2) changed location of complete/incomplete folders onto the local Disk (C:) in my downloads folder

3) delete incompleted items ( if i do this, does this delete the Dl's that are active? )

what else is there to do ? am i suppose to keep doing this everytime ?

Defragment your hdd, also try running a program like CCleaner(freeware) to free up some space. Otherwise you'll probably need to delete some files or get another hdd.

Find your incomplete folder,
right-click on it,
push the Advanced button at the bottom near the Read Only and Hidden attribute checkboxes,
put a checkmark on "Compress contents to save disk space",
click the OK buttons to close the dialogs and
select "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files",

1) disk cleanup
2) compress files in incomplete folder
3) defrag

anything else i can do as well?

If you have another partition with lots of free space it would be a good place for your folders.
Having both in C: will cause a lot of fragmentation. Filling up C: is not good for Windows either.

Also, make sure you set up your paging file to be separate from both the downloads and
Windows Partitions and set it's minimum and maximum sizes to the same value to lock it
down. I tend to create a simple FAT16 partition of about 4 gigs with nothing but the paging file
and very little free space left over. This will speed up paging and prevent it from leaving a
mess of fragments on your OS and work disks.

im pretty sure i only have one partition, but how can i check to see if i have another one ? computer management>disk management ? shows only ( C: ) one partition running

i have no idea how to seperate paging files from windows partition

If you don't have another partition it would take a bit of work and extra software to set one up.

You can set up your paging file inside the Windows partition if you defragged first, then set the
minimum and maximum sizes to be the same.

how big is your HDD and how much free space do you have left?

it is very easy to add another HDD onto your machine for storage...250GB internal drives are damn cheap these days

yeah....you need another drive..that thing is ancient....according to time issues you can either get a new drive online for the cheapest, or look for local retailers that have items on sale that suit your desires....
