BearShare & Vista compatibility issues Hello, I've used Bearshare for 7 years or so. I have BearShare on my laptop using the method on the link here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/open-d...sabotaged.html (thanks Aaron Walkhouse). Here's my issue. I have a desktop with Windows Vista (hate it btw) and downloaded the same two files from the link above. The date change app won't work so I changed the date manually on my system and Bearshare opened up, connected and I downloaded a song or two. Then it just arbitrarily stops working. I double checked to make sure the date change "stuck". I went into BearShare Test properties, clicked on compatibility and there is no option for Vista. What I'd like to do is get BearShare working with my desktop with Vista but wonder if I'm using the appropriate fix with the link above. Any help would be appreciated. I am not terribly computer savvy, but am not an idiot so keep it semi-simple if you can please. Thanks and I look forward to getting BearShare up and running again. Have a good one! |

There's a known problem with Vista and the Library view. Go to the View menu and disable the Library. In the properties of both BearShare and BearStart, set both to run in XP compatible mode and as an Administrator. If the date change still has to be done manually, try the regular BearShare 5.1.0.28 instead and uninstall the adware right away. The adware uninstaller is in C:\Program Files\VVSN. |
