Apologies for replying to a post 2 months old. But exactly Peerless's point. The known name brands like to make their set-top players specific to playing their own brand of media & don't always seem to offer the choice to play all media types such as SVCD. Unless you buy their top model! It's known as Marketing!!! (to incite you to buy their most expensive models.) I know panasonic is guilty of this & I'm aware of a couple of others, without naming them.

Yet the cheaper brands (like mine) plays everything. Does more than some known brand particular models can do yet costs 1/3 (or less) the price. Again, apologies for reigniting this thread.

The best place for video info I know of is VideoHelp.com - Forum, Guides, Tools and hardware lists.
It has step-by-step instructions for virtually anything to do with burning video disks.
