Question movies

I am new to downloading movies. I have been able to download the movie and watch it on the computer. However, I can not figure out how to transfer the file to my burning software so I can put the movie on a dvd. Any advise?

Also, which type of movie file is best?

I use Nero 6.0 Ultra Edition to burn my VCDs. I download the movie, open Nero, click on Burn To VCD, and it burns the movie to a CD-R. For me the file must be under 700 MB or it will not burn it. I know thats not the same as burning to a DVD.

I recommend the following video file formats:

.avi
.mpg
.mpeg

Thank you so much for your reply. You are the first person to answer me. Can you play vcd's in a dvd player for the tv?

Only if your DVD Player supports VCDs or SVCDs. Now-a-days, almost all the DVD Players have the ability to play them. I burned [edit] to VCD; 2 discs. If you got anymore questions, just ask.

all dvd players support VCD..its the SVCD format that needs to be verefied...and actually I've found its mostly the cheap models that support all the formats...

Apologies for replying to a post 2 months old. But exactly Peerless's point. The known name brands like to make their set-top players specific to playing their own brand of media & don't always seem to offer the choice to play all media types such as SVCD. Unless you buy their top model! It's known as Marketing!!! (to incite you to buy their most expensive models.) I know panasonic is guilty of this & I'm aware of a couple of others, without naming them.

Yet the cheaper brands (like mine) plays everything. Does more than some known brand particular models can do yet costs 1/3 (or less) the price. Again, apologies for reigniting this thread.
