Can not connect have tryed everything! I have tryed everything I can think of any I'm pretty sure everything on the help. Im running on Windows 7 Through a Siemens 4100b router and Belkin N150. Even without router I can not connect. Tryed running java.exe and frostwire as admin from main account unless I gotta do something else. Have turned UAC off. Turned firewalls off. Did the clean install from here and the connection fix which just zipped files no idea where to put them. Do not know how to delete the preferences if that makes a difference. Im running on DSL it never happened to me in Vista but Win7 seems to...not like Frostwire or Phex. o.O Anything I can do people!? |

Which version of FW are you using? Which version of Java are you using? If you're using Java 7, try using a version of Java 6 instead. Click on the link here for more info. Even though it's referring to LimeWire, you can still use the download link for Java 6 & use the instructions for making Java 6 your default version: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...need-java.html When using the connection fix, try this: 1. Download the FrostWire Gnutella ConnectFix.zip file, save the file. 2. Double click on the file that you've saved & extract it with an archive utility such as WinRar, 7zip, WinZip. 3. Close FW & make sure that it's not running by checking in Task Manager. If a FW process is running, end the process. 4. Run the Connection Fix installer by double clicking on the icon. Click 'Finish' once installation is complete. 5. Restart FW. Then leave FW running for 5 to 10 mins - sometimes connection takes a little time. For deleting the FW preferences folder... 1. Close FW & make sure that it's closed by checking in Task Manager (if there's a FW process running - end the process). 2. Click on the Start button & then type %appdata% into the search text field. You should then see a folder named FrostWire - that's your preferences folder. Delete that folder. When you delete the prefs folder, FW must be closed... otherwise things won't work. 3. Restart FW. Deleting your prefs folder will change all of your settings within FW's Tools > Options. So if you're not sure what all of your settings are, you should look through FW's Tools > Options & note down what things are before you delete the prefs folder, so that you can re-set them later. Let us know if you're still having probs after trying these things |

FW Version 4.21.9 Java 6 Did all these steps EXCEPT the connect file when I extract it says that this file can not be encrypted. I tell it to go ahead and I get 2 files MAC_OSx or whatever and The Windows one but it has a file that leads to contents and then to some other stuff. Theres not an .exe or anything to run. Advice? |

Sounds like you downloaded the wrong one. Choose the one that is called FrostWire Windows ConnectFix June 2012.zip from view folder: FrostWire Connect Fixes - ifile.it I presumed most people would guess the OSX one is for Mac users only. I renamed the Windows one from FrostWire Gnutella ConnectFix June 2012.zip. I've double-checked and the one named above is the Windows one. AFAIK it should be 64-bit Windows 7 compatible. I've run it on my Windows 7. On Windows, the MacOSX connection fix will look like a folder and inside is another folder called Contents. This is how most MacOSX applications are designed, so it includes most of the support files within the program package instead of them being installed all over the system like on Windows. To uninstall programs on MacOSX is often as simple as trashing the program package. But on MacOSX it looks like a file not a folder. |

Try Birdy's advice here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...tml#post368617 which has some off-shoot links. The principles are the same. My search results yesterday were not good, but the program was not on for that long. Today seems much better. |

If they are going to use BitTorrent, then why not pick Vuze, uTorrent, Deluge, Halite, Transmission etc., which have been developed solely for the BitTorrent protocol for years, rather than the FrostWire attempt at doing BitTorrent? The user above is asking for help with v.4 with Gnutella support included so you can't help him. Also what is a "Helper"? Is that something like self proclaimed v.5 only support people that aren't real staff? Looking at the Frostwire site it even offers the old versions, so there must be demand for them. Why the policy to refuse to help those people? |
