The "License Acquisition" is different from the "FrostWire License Popup" message box. The License Acquisition is a WMA/WMV DRM License check.

A little advice, DO NOT download these types of audio/video content. (WMA/WMV Files are dangerous to download if you do not understand how to protect yourself against them.)

And also, the License acquisition popup that you have described (using activeX and also coming from p2ptips.com) is well known to contain spyware, adware, malware, trojans and/or viruses.

DO NOT install the activeX component that you are asked to install.

Please read this for further information: What you should know about WMA Files

okay

so i should not use frostwire because every download that i was going to use the activeX popup is needed.......so is limewire okay to use?

You should also avoid WMV files. Though in the newer versions of LW it's blotted out by default. I'm not sure a about FW. If not, add it to your keyword filters. How to use the Keyword Filter
You don't want to be a victim of diallers, etc. so ignore those wma/wmv licence requests & "never" click on their link to connect to the net.

I am also having trouble with frostwire. I've downloaded many songs, but now I can't get a connection. I have configured my firewall, and i do have spyware (trend). I'm going crazy.

This would help us System details - help us to help you (click on link).

If you're using an older version of FrostWire, then check the Stickies at the top of this section about changing connection information. Otherwise update to the FrostWire beta 4.13
Here's the link to fixing the connection information http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=63374

First of thank you for replying. Sorry for not giving you any info. I'm using winxp sp2, I,m not sure what ram, I have 13.8 gb of free space on C drive, I'm using a cable modem,(Roadrunner) I connect from home, the versions of frostwire is 4.10.9, Java is 1.5.0_10, and i am an inexperienced user. The firewall icon is also covered by the brick wall, but sometimes it will go away. I hope i've given you enough info. Again thanks for the help. I will try to update.

Did you check the link I gave? That is the answer to why so many FrostWire users suddenly started having connection problems. If you're not sure about how to do it, then update to the beta 4.13. The only problem with the beta is there's no options for filtering in the Tools>Options ...

Yes I checked the link, but should'nt I update anyway? I also went to update In softpedia but for a dummy like me it does not say download here it has an external mirror that comes up to run or save, is this what I want? Thanks again!
