However when i connect to frostwire i get a excellent connection, and then all of a sudden it goes to fair, poor, and then discoonected while i am d/ling a song, kinda frustrating, i would love some help with this, turning firewall on or off makes no difference same with antivirus.

Hi ssmmdman,
For someone to help you with this, you have to give a bit more info: OS, Java version, where you're connecting from (home, work, school etc),firewall type, make & model of your modem/router and any other info that you think might be helpful.
Cheers.

Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) (Same applies with FW)

After FW's been open at least 15 mins, do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False?

If false, then that's why people can't (or have major problems) upload from you.

I don't know whether SMC supports UPnP. You might be better off manual port forwarding.
(a) http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm & also (b) FW Manual port forward instructions & sample image & 2 posts after that. (again same instructions as LW)

Also keep in mind that connection to the network isn't necessary for file xfers, only for searches. Know that doesn't help t'shoot the problem, but it *shouldn't* affect actual file xfers already in progress. What happens when you do File> Connect after it completely disconnects?

I'm new to all this, so sorry if this is in the wrong thread/topic.

I have FW and have same probs with uploading (downloading is ok) My system:

Windows XP pro (AMD Athlon 64 3500+)
Sygate Personal Pro software firewall
Router (unbranded) 4 ports 11g wireless ADSL with firewall
1 gig Ram
320 gig HD (currently using only 7%)
ADSL broadband 1 mbps (connecting from home)
ISP - Pipex
Sharing connection with laptop (occasionally)

When I checked Bug reports (view example) I got "received incoming this session" : false.

I don't know how to configure my router properly - I've been to the site you recommend but my router isn't listed so I can't get instructions on how to set it up. At the moment I have configured Frostwire to use UPnP.

I do not have Sygate firewall blocking Frostwire in any way (although FW is not showing as a running application even though it's connected) so it must be the router giving the problems I think.

If you're using your Sygate Firewall, I'd recommend disabling your XP firewall if you haven't already. Go to the control panel, double click on Windows Firewall, check the disable box.

I'm not sure how you configure for frostwire with the Firewall, since FW may be seen as limewire (has limewire core.) But this might give you a clue: Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

What brand & model number of modem/router do you have?

Hey Lord Of The Rings, I would like to first of all Thank You for your help on my matter with my connection prob, I finally got my ISP to come out to my house they said it was a network card issue, I replaced the network card in question and BooM it all started working again. Now for the fun part, it looks like i have an Excellent connection to FW and it has stayed that way for over 30 mins, I guess a new network card was the prob kinda weird how things work out.

Thank you again for the help

Thanks for the reply Lord of the Rings.
The XP is disabled.
Re Sygate, I've checked the link and know how to give it permission but the Frostwire or Limewire entry isn't showing in the applications to be able to allow it, even though I have Frostwire running and an excellent connection is showing and it allows me to download.

With regards to the router, it's unbranded. The only info it gives is 4 ports IEEE 802.11g ADSL wireless router.
