Frostwire allows me to connect so I can search other people's music but I cannot download anything.

I thought at first the problem was because i wasn't sharing enough but now i have 123 files so that should be fine. My suspicion is that its due to the firewall, however, i turned off Norton and nothing happened. Can someone walk me through the process of how to allow frostwire to work even when the firewall is on.

Disable your XP firewall because it will interfere with Norton FW. Then configure Norton: * Configuring Norton Internet Security

Thanks for the help. I am able to download now incredibly slowly, at around 2 kb/s which is when it works which is not very often. Anything that i can do to speed this up?

Find more sources to downld from; ie: search the topic again, browse hosts, etc.

Make sure you're not firewalled. Do this test after FW's been open at least 15 mins: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False?

If true then that's good. If false, then you have a firewall issue either with your modem/router or a softw firewall on your computer. Disable XP's firewall & instead configure Norton's firewall; * Configuring Norton Internet Security

If still false, tell us the brand name & model number of your modem/router.

If you get very small speeds then the issue might be your isp. Check your natural speeds using a speed test whilst LW is not open. Choose nearest location for a speed test & only have your browser open: Speed Test Internet Speed Test DSL Speed Test Broadband Speed Test Bandwidth Speed Test
If they quote speeds in kbps (kilo bits/sec), then divide the result by 8 to give you KB/s (Kilo Bytes/sec) which is what FW uses.
