Default all d/loads stopping simultaneously.

Frostwire ambled along perfectly well until recently when, with an "excellent " connection and lots of uploads going on, all the downloads stop at the same time. They stay like that for ages then restart and stop again.
The number of downloads doesn't seem to make any difference and I've reinstalled but that hasn't improved things either.
What's going on?

Any information on the state of the downloads would be helpful.

They are video files and appear to be coming (via NTL Broadband) from several sources. When they finally complete and verify they're fine.
It's just this strange simultaneous stop/restart which puzzles me.
Keeping the number down to 4 seems to help but increasing it to 5 or 6 seems to jam the brakes on again.
I can see that too many downloads may cause a freeze but this is different.
Weirdly, Shareaza can support upwards of 30-40 downloads with no apparent strain.

What network adapter are you using if you are using Marvell Yukon it is probably a driver problem. The newest driver fixes this problem.

If I had any idea what a network adapter was I could probably give you an answer.

You can find out by clicking on Start/Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager/Network Adapters

Found it: 1394 Net Adapter & National Semiconducter PP83815-Based Fast Ethernet Adapter

It may well be the number of downloads after all: 4 seems to be the most stable.

I was having a problem very similar to yours a while back it turned out to be my Marvell Yukon adapter you may want to check and see if there are any updates to your National Semiconductor PP83815-Based Fast Ethernet Adapter if there are install them and see if that takes care of the problem. When disconnect is associated with the # of files this points to a problem other than LimeWire it is most likely a hardware such as modem, network adapter, router, etc. there is also the possibility it is your ISP. The link below is the problem I was having it is very similar to yours.

Thanks for your time and effort: I'll give it a try when I'm awake.
Things seem to have setted down somewhat now, with 10 or so downloads humming along nicely.
