I'm not exactly sure who is my ISP, but if you give some examples of it i'm sure i can tell you. All I know is that I use an Axesstell wireless modem in my house. I got frostwire from the frostwire website and to my knowledge I have not installed or updated anything circa the time it stopped connecting. Is Limewire or any other Gnutell networks having the same probs? If so, it probably is the ISP.

wouldn't know to be quite honest...since others (birdy and garbagefan2) were helping you last night, I though I'd give a little info as to your ISP (since I'm a SuperMod I can see your IP addy and research it)...

a call to your tech support might be in order....and if you have already installed the new Internet Explorer 7, that perhaps might be the cause...I for one am ignoring said update notification until they get the bugs hammered out of it, so I don't know if there is any effect it has on gnutella clients

I doubt that i installed IE7 being that I never use IE (I'm a Firefox man), but if i do call tech, what do I say? "Well, I'm having trouble with my p2p program, which is mostly used to ilegally download songs." Won't they send the feds on me. I mean, there's nothing else wrong with my internet. Another interesting fact, i stil have frostwire installed in another desktop that I have i my house under a completely different ISP: Liberty Cable Links. Frostwire isn't working there either!! Even more curious, my sister uses limewire (which i have been told was being ******* down by the feds, therefore changing to frostwire) and that is working just fine. the firewall blocking icon isn't even in the bottom bar. And it's in the same computer, same ISP!! Quite a mistery, I might say...

"all' wireless devices use internal NAT firewalls. So you have a choice of port forwarding or using UPnP if your device supports it.

I find your statement confusing ... 2 isp's in the one household ... yet your sister 'can' connect on same computer but "you" can't. Are you taking us for a "ride" or what. In question 11 your answer was "no" but now you're saying yes. So which is it? I'm not sure I can be bothered with being stuffed around like this. Good luck in your endeavours anyway. Go to another forum & kid them around & stop frigging us around with time-wasting rot. Or otherwise top lying to us. I'm delisting myself from my subscription to this thread anyway. I've got better things to do!

I for one wouldn't be surprised if its:

1) a specific virus to kill LW/FW programs

2) the result of not using a firewall and having been 'exploited' by the MAFIAA

Hi Cootmaster, I recognise you from the FrostWire forums. I received this personal message from Birdy:
"There's this explanation for the flood of FW connection problems over the last week or so:
http://www.frostwire.com/forum/viewt...hp?p=3147#3147

I don't get it though...if the FW host cache is 'stale' fair enough but I don't understand how it can go stale. The host cache gives out IPs, I presume from any Gnutella client...is this a finite list of IPs (ie not changing as new ultrapeers are found day by day)?
If it's a problem because of FW not releasing a new version for so long, how can people still run ancient LW versions successfully? I see really old (4.0.8) LWs around all the time. And ... my FW ... but it still connects as well as ever... "

So I'm not sure myself, this could be so. I would have thought that being the case that a simple deletion of FW prefs folder should fix the situation but it hasn't.

I'm sure FW probably isn't too far from bringing out a new beta but I haven't heard any feedback in that regard.

In the meantime, if you're brave, yes but why not try out the LW beta http://www.limewire.com/english/content/beta.shtml which has some very nice improvements. A summarised description of changes can be seen here http://www.limewire.com/english/cont..._history.shtml

After all, both the LW & FW devs are good mates so to speak & so should the communities. We try to support each other.

Edit: wow I am slow posting ... 2 posts have gone by before I finished my post. lmao

Double-edit: all 3 versions of my FrostWire connect nicely. I just double-checked.
