Connection troubles with FW 4.10, the solution

The problem is that the Gnutella.net bundled in FrostWire 4.10 (containing the hosts caches to connect) are too old to let you connect.

Go in the FrostWire preferences folder. Open Gnutella.net with a text editor. Remove all the lines.

Paste in there those:

krill.shacknet.nu:20095,,1162480628374,,,en,1
uhc.udp-host-cache.com:9999,,1162480630012,,,en,0
kisama.ath.cx:8080,,1162480628074,,,en,1
uhc3.limewire.com:51180,,1162480626905,,,en,0
uhc2.limewire.com:20181,,1162480626164,,,en,0
gwc.jooz.net:8010,,1162480627623,,,en,0

Save the file while FW is closed. Start FW and wait a bit it should now connect.

Ciao

Did you try trashing you preferences, starting FW so it creates new prefs, close FW, and then use the list from (edited because new version available) ? If no, you might have another problem, the solution worked for almost anybody here, on FW official forums and Ubuntu forums.

This could sound stupid...but where do i paste in those codes, what preference folder?

et voilà November 7th, 2006 05:29 PM

When I say FW preferences or options, this is not the prefs into FW, I'm talking about prefs stored in your disk.

On Linux, it is indeed in /home/user/.frostwire/ (you have to see hidden files)

On Mac, /user/library/preferences/frostwire

on WIndows it is (you have to see hidden files) C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\frostwire

Ive gotten that far, thanks, but now I see no Gnutella.net. Sorry for being annoying and dumb

You could create if there is none. Download it from my website and place it in the FW folder.

Ciao

Yeah, I am still having this problem. I can't find the folder [I use windows by the way], i've even viewed all the hidden folders too. Please help me. I also read your last post, about downloading it from your site, what is your site? Thanks again for all the help.

Forgot to state whether or not it matters if it is version 4.10 or 4.10.9. Does it?

Hello,
I am having a horrible time connecting to any p2p hosts. I have limewire, frostwire, kazaa, bearshare, and afew other smaller ones. I have thoroughly read the previous 600 posts about this issue but I still have no joy. I have even gone as far as changing my dns and setting up a static ip address but all it did was make my explorer slower. I am running win xp pro sp2 i have plenty of space and memory and power on my pc and I have completely turned off all of my firewalls, antivirus and spyware . I am connecting to the web with windstream broadband and it is plenty fast( faster than the road runner we had) andstill nothing. please help before I get the gun. I am married with 3 kids and I cant take much more frustration. thx stiddy

Hi stiddy,

Start off by checking that you don't have a Windstream firewall that's causing problems...check out the thread below (same deal for FW, even though the person was a LW user);)
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html

If that's not your problem, please give us your details. Sorry for any repeat questions & all the questions apply for FW, even though they're referring to LilmeWire!

Hey all I think I figured it out with help from the windstream tech.
I am using OS xp sp 2 and connecting with a windstream\siemans 4200 modem. Go to the address bar and type in 192.168.254.254 and enter
this takes you to another page to the left of the screen click on settings, firewall, level. it probably says medium for the level. below it click the arrow and set it to off then click apply and X out of the screen thats it and I now have all bars lit on the limewire screen amd downloaded some stuff to check it and it works great. this may be a reason that folks are getting poor service through them as far as the download & upload speeds. please let me know if this works.

Hi Stiddy,

You've posted onto a Vista thread & this person has solved their problem;). Let's move this back onto your original thread.

stiddy August 26th, 2007 09:09 PM

sorry

Sorry I am new here and I couldnt find the thread I was on before. Please if you are able, could you redirect the post to the proper place so it may be of use to someone else? Thanks Stiddy
