![]() I just bought a laptop and downloaded frostwire for it. I have the latest version on my laptop(4.13.5) and i turned off windows firewall and turned off avg firewall and it wont connect. My desktop connects perfectly fine with frostwire. Here is all my info 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) Windows Vista 2. What firewalls you have? Windows and AVG 3. How much ram? 2GB 4. Hard Disk space available? 250GB 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Comcast Cable 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Arris modem from comcast (model # TM402P/110)...Netgear router(i dont think it has a model number) 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? Home 8. What version of FrostWire (FW) & Java do you have? (Go to FW's menu Help>About FW...) Will show both FW & Java version. 4.13.5 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Comcast(i think that is an isp?) 10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. i have a desktop with frostwire, but i am unable to connect on my laptop when my desktop is turned off as well 11. Is this a your 1st try at FW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. ive been using frostwire on my desktop for a while 12. ![]() Set FrostWire on each computer to use different port numbers manually in Tools/Options/Advanced/Firewall Config Use the same number in both slots on that page for each one, but make sure your laptop is using a different port number than your desktop. In the Windows network setup for each computer, go into the properties for the TCP/IP protocol and change it from automatic setup to manual and lock down the internal IP address for each computer so they are always the same. Detailed instructions on that are here: How To setup a Static IP Address Once you've done both of those things take a closer look at that Westell router to see if it's model number is in this list and follow the instructions for LimeWire: Port Forwarding Guides by Router If you get this done both computers will be at full speed without a firewall in the way. |
