![]() I've done everything from checking my firewalls, my router settings to replacing the peer file. I had this working fine until I had some nasty DNSChanger virus which I finaly got rid of and now I can't connect the Gnutella network. Here are my system details: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP-1 with Administrator user account 2. What firewalls you have? Rogers Communications (ISP) firewall 3. How much ram? 4 Gb 4. Hard Disk space available? 790 Gb 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) cable 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Modem: Scientific Alanta Model: DPC2100R2 Router: Linksys Model: WRT300N 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? Home 8. What version of FrostWire (FW) & Java do you have? (Go to FW's menu Help>About FW...) Will show both FW & Java version. Frostwire: 4.17.2 Java: 1.6.0_13 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Rogers Communications 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? I get 'Your test worked!' 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. Yes. Laptop with no p2p sharing apps 12. Is this a your 1st try at FW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem with experienced user 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of FW's interface? Yes 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? Originally... just UPnP but since this issue I've added port forwarding with no luck 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall ![]() I was using Norton Internet Security 2009 until I found out it wasn't very effective against many viruses. I recently started using my ISP's security suite which includes AV, Firewall and Anti-Spyware. I've also just added Ad-Aware Pro. Malewarebytes and Combofix were used to scrub viruses. 16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). Canada eh? 17. Has anything in your setup changed recently? Have you updated your version of LW or Java? Have you added any new software or new hardware? Have you updated any software? Have you moved house, changed internet plan or ISP etc etc? In addition to apps in item 15 have also updated IE to version 8 and installed Windows Live Suite of Apps. Finally... all security fixes to date have been updated for OS and MS applications. ![]() Last edited by jwrhanna; May 6th, 2009 at 08:01 PM. Reason: Forgot to include the simple test result |

![]() Do you know which firewall Rogers is giving you? The only info that I can find suggests that it's NPF: Telus, Shaw, and Rogers provide free virus and Internet protection | In that case, the link at the bottom of this post has further links to configuring Norton's firewall ![]() Before you set up port forwarding, did you set up a static IP address for your computer? You'll need to ![]() The instructions are here: PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall And when you set up port forwarding, did you use these instructions (refers to LimeWire but that's fine because everything's the same & FW isn't in the list of programs yet): Port Forwarding for the Linksys WRT300N FW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within your router must all be the same number. There are other different fixes to try in this thread: If LW 4 Will Not Connect Don't worry that it refers to LW - things are the same for FW. Where you see 'LW' or 'LimeWire' just substitute FW or FrostWire ![]() |

![]() ![]() I have definitely determined it has something to do with my Rogers Firewall app. When this firewall is turned off, I'm able to connect again. I've since tried setting up a forwarded port with PFPortChecker confirmed is open and still no go. I've manually added an exception to the Rogers Firewall app for the opened port as well. Any suggestions??? btw... I've updated FW to 4.18 |

![]() apparently your ISP has been known to throttle p2p traffic...taking this into account I wouldn't be in any way surprised if buried within your firewall (supplied by them) is a block against known p2p programs...one which you cannot disable... I suggest going with a commercial firewall such as Kaspersky's
