Thanks filegirl_71, it's much appreciated. Will action that.

In the meantime, and don't know if this helps any of the helpful members here to give help on this, but here goes - if going to any of the Ultrapeers and browsing host, I can download any of their files, very fast, BUT, when trying to download files in the usual way, through the ordinary search function and then when you get a list of results, to try to download one of them, for many, many files, (have tried about 70 so far), from different hosts and none of them download, all I get is waiting for sources (so many seconds left), then awaiting sources!!!!! It's a turbo-charged connection and the brick wall is still in front of the globe.

Any help much appreciated.

Most likely it's just a stroke of bad luck and otherwise spam results.

To become an UltraPeer you need at least a decent connection and also need a way through the firewall i.e. accepting incoming connections. This isn't needed to just share files. So if you are firewalled and the user whose search result you pick is also firewalled, then you will in many cases have at least a bit of trouble connecting, no matter what Limewire in the past has claimed.

If you can download fast from the Ultrapeers it at least completely eliminates any suspicions in regards to your ISP doing any trotling or blocking to your connection.

Thanks Sleepless, it's appreciated. If you were me, (working with Frostwire), how would you attempt to solve it please ?

@ filegirl_17, bearing in mind my post above, is it still worth downloading and installing the file you mentioned in your pm please ?

I'm sure Filegirl is much better equipped to help with this as I don't use Gnutella clients much.

But your No. 1 issue is most definitely that brick wall and/or possibly some sort of protection software/firewall.

Bearing just that one comment above in mind, what would you do to solve that part?

Yes because you use Win XP with SP2 if i did not remember it wrong...Win XP SP2 has limit only 10 half open connections, and i allways have troubble with get firewalled if i did not use the TCIP patcher which will increase half open connections from 10 to 256...But it can also be your router or modem if you have it...

Personally I use process of elimination i.e. uninstall every security related tool and just make sure you have Windows Firewall on. Then uninstall Frostwire and Java. Then run CCleaner and clean everything, make sure you backup registry when it asks. then install only the newest java and frostwire and work from there. If the brick wall is gone, then slowly add the security software back, if not, then make sure Windows Firewall allows Frostwire. If it does then your router and/or FrostWire setup is to blame and that's what needs to be concentrated on.
