Default Hosts file

How exactly do I get Phex to recognise it? I've downloaded the phex.hosts file from the sourceforge site, placed it my phex directory, but Phex doesn't seem to do anything with it. Is there something to configure that I missed?

Make sure Phex is not running. And place the file into the phex subdirectory of your userprofile directory.
Search for phexgui.xml to find it.
When you start Phex it will load the file.

I downloaded MacPhex 0.7.3 and none of the default hosts will connect. I do not know where to put the phex.hosts file since I have neither a phex subdirectory nor any file called "phexgui.xml". I tried placing a copy of phex.hosts in every directory, but evidently the program isn't looking for a .hosts file. Any suggestions? (other than typing in all the hosts...)

Thanks for any help

for Linux/Unix box in $HOME/.phex/phex.hosts

for win boxes find the file phex.hosts across the
c: drive (I'm not sure for these systems)

Putting the phex.hosts file into the directory with the application worked for me.

I'm not sure about MacPhex (never used it), but regular Phex on MacOSX stores the hosts file in the invisible .phex folder. It is located here:

normal users: /Users/(username)/.phex/phex.hosts
root user: /private/var/root/.phex/phex.hosts

To see the phex config folder, use OS 9 or download TinkerTool http://www.macupdate.com/tinkertool and set the Finder to show invisible files.

on my windows 2000 box i had to replace the phex.hosts file in:

c:\Documents and Settings\$myusernamehere\phex

then when i restarted phex, and voila!

anybody have a better hosts list, or know where i could get one? this one seems to be outdated or something.
