Default phex downloads not working

hi
i'm using phex 2.0.0.76 on redhat 9 on a wireless network with a linksys router, and I can never, ever, ever get the downloading to work. I can search for downloads and everything, but none of them ever work. I tried using the "host behind firewall" switch, but it didnt help. Maybe i need 2 change the listening port? i already tried changing it to 19202 or whatever and it didnt fix nething.
I can search and make a download queue, but the downloads always end up as just waiting or queued, even if they have 100+ hosts.
are there any ways to fix this?
downloading works in windows and everything, but when i use phex in linux, i can't download anything.

thanks in advance.

There seems to be no problem with your environment or internet connection.

If you see the status queued you are already successfully connected. The download can begin right afterwards without reconnection.

If you still have problems you might like to try the latest beta which contains many very nice improvements to downloads, thanks to nxf's efforts.

thanks for the reply
i downloaded the new one and i still get the same thing: only queued's and waiting's.
i checked and the port im using 6346 is open and all that.
any ideas?
just out of curiosity, what does windows do differently that lets programs download and upload with absolutely no problems, while linux has such difficulty doin the exact same thing?

any help would greatly be appreciated.
thanks in advance

Downloading works really well in linux depending on your setings. Only difference is that most windows coputers are not firewalled but linux coputers are usually firewalled. So in linux it takes an extra step to get it working. So whats your choice easy or secure?

Maybe you could try disabling your firewall as a test.

hey man that was a long delay on my part.

anyway, i changed it to no firewall, and still i get the same problem, it doesnt download. my friends' pc works fine with windows and what not (using kazaa), and when my friend with a mac tried, it worked as well using limewire.

any ideas?

i cant really test without the router because i have a wireless thing.

is there anything i need 2 like turn off or disable on the router that doesnt make it any less secure but would let phex work with it? im using the linksys wireless-g router with speed boost, and ive already tried updating the firmware and that didnt fix nething.

thanks in advance

Do you have port forwarding enabled?

If not, then please check in the Phex preferences (subpane network) which port it uses and forward that port to your computer.
