Connections stop after size reaches 1,048,576
 

Whenever the download size reaches 1,048,576, the speed drops to 0, and eventually the connection is dropped. This is repeatable.

Since Phex limits downloads by time instead of size, the fastest connections are the ones that have the problem, because they are the one sthat attempt chunks larger than 1meg.

I increased my connection timeout to 30 seconds, but it still happens.

As temporary solution, try to decrease the target/time for chunks.

Which Version of Phex and which operation-system do you use?
