To help with upgrades, it might be a good idea to have PHEX downloads go to somewhere other than the Installation Directory (default). The net result is that upgrades that preserve your installation details will continue to store downloads in the OLD location installation directory.

I suggest a default of a separate path like C:\Program Files\Phex Downloads or somesuch.

Isn't the default download directory a relative path to '.'?
AFAIK it should not generate a problem after an update... or?

We'd need a seperate downllad-dir for Linux/Unix based Systems, MacOSX (for the structure of user-accounts differs a bit) and Windows installations.

In OSX I'd suggest $HOME/Public/phex-downloads

Salut all, I think osx users are more used to that kind of location:

$home/documents/Phex-downloads

Nothing is ever stored in Public AFAIK.
