Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures. 3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum. 4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community. |

often (most times?) unable to continue download Hello, everyone! Am I missing something? It seems as if whenever I have to quit phex 2.6.4.89 on WinXP (SP2) with a download list, the downloads won't continue after the machine has been switched off. All files have status waiting, queued or whatever but there seems to be no attempt to restart any download. In the phex.error.log there are a lot of errors like the following: 050929 20:09:07,0373 Error/Download.Worker:: Error at Host: 24.165.144.255:6346 Vendor: Shareaza - Exception: java.io.IOException: SOCKS: Connection refused at phex.net.connection.OIOSocketFactory.connectSock5( Unknown Source) at phex.net.connection.OIOSocketFactory.connect(Unkno wn Source) at phex.net.connection.OIOSocketFactory.connect(Unkno wn Source) at phex.download.DownloadEngine.connect(Unknown Source) at phex.download.swarming.SWDownloadWorker.connectDow nloadEngine(Unknown Source) at phex.download.swarming.SWDownloadWorker.handleDown load(Unknown Source) at phex.download.swarming.SWDownloadWorker.run(Unknow n Source) at phex.common.ThreadPool$Worker.run(Unknown Source) This can be especially nagging when a large file is concerned, which you cannot transmit in one session! I have shared over 200 files (1.35GB) myself but see no uploads at all. Is this because Phex is behind a socks server? But on the other hand: I have definitely downloaded dozens of files in the first session, many parallel downloads took place and after restarting the machine: nothing. Bests & thank you in advance Mat |

Hi Mat. I'm very new to this ..so I am not going to be very helpful! If you highlight the file concerned in Download files, what do you see in the Download candidates window? I have had a number of files restart with no problem after restarting. I also am familiar with Shareaza hosts being somewhat unreliable and slow Are you sharing music files. I ask because it seems dificult for another host to see what a Phex user is sharing as , unless I am mistaken, only the file title can be seen, not the album and artist title unless they are shown in the file title. I was suprised to find a lot of my files being uploaded despite this. I have a stupid question. How can you see how many files you are sharing? |

This is an interesting one: The downloads-line says candidates 1/0/1, but the list of candidates only shows the one loading candidate. Some files have a list of over 20 candidates before the interruption, none of which can be contacted after restart and no additional candidates can be found by using [search candidates] Quote:
[QUOTE]Originally posted by Only A Hobo : I was suprised to find a lot of my files being uploaded despite this.[QUOTE] My suspicion is that I'm behind a socks server. I'm going to try with a somewhat more direct connection, but this has to be delayed a couple of days. Quote:

Mat I didn't forget your post ... I just didn't have much constructive to say. I moved my incomplete folder and this may not have helped! but at least it is working better for me now. I do think that your original host/s are simply no longer on line, but as yet I'm not sure. The way I select my share is by adding various folders and I would love to be able to know how many files I am sharing without going to each folder and checking the count and adding them all up Any way I'm still learning abot this foxy little thing so ...... |

Sorry if I dont help much on this topic. The main reason is that so much if not almost all of the download logic has been changed in CVS. Any possible error I could help you analyze might occure differently or hopefully not at all with the next release. We would like to bring out a release of this version soon, but we are still fighting with problems to convert/upgrade your old download files to the new logic. And I guess you dont like to loose downloads after upgrade..... But anyway I dont know of a problem where downloads dont continue after restart... you can try to raise your max download connections global and per file (this can give your CPU more load). The error you are seeing: 050929 20:09:07,0373 Error/Download.Worker:: Error at Host: 24.165.144.255:6346 Vendor: Shareaza - Exception: java.io.IOException: SOCKS: Connection refused is nothing to worry about. It is only a cosmetic problem which logs a simply failed connection to a host as an error instead of debug. If you are behind any kind of firewall like a socks server you will see uploads rarely. The number of files you are sharing and the aggregated size of the files should be displayed in the upper right corner of your library tab. After starting Phex it might take a little till the file scan is finished before it is displayed. Gregor Last edited by GregorK; October 6th, 2005 at 01:51 AM. |

GregorK Thanksfor pointing me to the shared files quantity.. I knew the number of shared files had to be there somewhere I'm not sure if this is still an issue, but it was only recently I downloaded my first Phex, and chose the Kent UK site. I received the version 2.6.0.87. I was immediately alerted that there was a newer version and so a few days later I downloaded 2.6.4.89 from a German site. I'm wondering if all sites are in fact offering up to date versions for download. |
| |||
All the sourceforge mirror server offer the same file for a link with a format: Code: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/phex/phex_x.y.z.bb.exe http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/p...date&sort=desc You might have downloaded with the link: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/p...x_2.6.0.87.exe that way you get version 2.6.0.87 instead of the most current release 2.6.4.89. I think the problem is that you might have downloaded from a site with an outdated link? Some sites like to offer direct download links to old Phex versions and dont update them regularly. Maybe that was the cause? |

Incorrect Link GregorK said "You might have downloaded with the link: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/p...x_2.6.0.87.exe that way you get version 2.6.0.87 instead of the most current release 2.6.4.89." Yes that looks like it. I probably followed an outdated link on a post somewhwere in the forum. |

Continuing download often doesn't work Hi! After some time, I can maybe contribute something (I'm trying these things as background-task, sorry if I'm not much of a help in identifying the problem): I had a couple of files on the download list for *weeks* with no visible effect, clicking the "search"-button on the download page for those file had no effect at all. Then I searched with similar criteria and some of those files appeared in the hits-list (among others), were already marked green and downloaded in a couple of seconds (or minutes). Some of those unsuccesful download files also appeared in the list of hits when I did a new search, showed the correct size, but were not marked green, and the download also did not continue. ... oops, even stranger! (I'm editing this entry after a couple of minutes, because I just saw something new): One of the files which were found with the correct size but would not continue to download, suddenly appeared a second time on the download list and dowloaded a second time (actually, I've got it 2x on the dowload list, now.) It has the very same name and the same size as its "predecessor" but it actually downloads. The other file still seems to be inactive and waits for an unavailable client with a private IP-adress. By the way, I read this in another post and now had the same effect: some downloads show status "Queued", but the counters are running vividly. In one case the candidates list shows as many as 6 active hosts with status "downloading". Hope this helps, Cheers Matthew Last edited by MatthiasWolf; October 13th, 2005 at 10:05 PM. |
